From Olympic glory to ... getting arrested? Two-time Olympic gold medal-winning snowboarder Shaun White apologized Tuesday after his arrest for public intoxication and vandalism.

shaun white

"I want to apologize for the unwise choices I made over the weekend and for any inconvenience it caused my family, friends, business partners, the hotel and their guests," he says in a statement posted on his Facebook page. "I was celebrating a happy occasion with a ton of family and friends and got carried away. I'm truly sorry for my poor behavior."

White, 26, was arrested early Sunday morning in Nashville, where he was attending a wedding, according to People. Police say White, who appeared to be extremely intoxicated, pulled a hotel fire alarm, causing evacuations, then attempted to flee the scene, and wound up hitting his head as officers chased him. Do you forgive White for his "unwise choices"?

first of all, I would not consider him a hero. But that being said... Of course forgive him. He got drunk and made a few mistakes. No big deal.

now does that sound like sports to you guys, that sound more the like the men and women servering in our military or the uncorrupted member of the our law enforcement out on the streets daily and in my personal favorite Jesus. Not some over glorified sports star or some stuck up celebrity. They said don't m

He never was one. I mean, I'm sure he's very talented and probably a great guy, but besides Hermann Maier I don't really consider any athlete a 'hero'. But I don't think what he did was that bad. Sure, he pulled a fire alarm, but he's paying a fine and has apologized in public. He was drunk. He's allowed to get drunk.

He is a human being, no one should be expected to be a hero at all times. People need to get lives and stop idolizing mere mortals, they are just people just like the rest of us.

It happened in Nashville, Tennessee, the capital of country music. Between the drinks and the music, we could all yield to such temptation. As long as he wins gold medals for thwe United States, he can get drunk and vandalize Nashville any time. If it were me, I would want the police to call Dolly Parton to escort me to jail and watch over me for a few days with the blinds drawn!

VERY talented guy, but a hero? I don't think he was.

I would say however a wizard, because based on what I saw at the winter olympics, he hit the half pipe and everyone else got SMOKED. What he did was pure magic.

He's not the first person to get drunk and do something stupid. He didn't hurt anyone and he only pulled a fire alarm. Its not like he peed in the lobby or something. And how many celebs get DUIs and barely get punished? I mean its not a big deal. Not that he was a hero in my book anyway, but he isn't any worse off in my eyes. As long as he learns from it.

I wouldn't call him a "hero" but he did make mistakes and seems like he is genuine with his apology. He does do a lot of charity work and seems like a good person at heart who made some bad decisions.
