Nick Buckles sent a shock wave through the security and Olympic community when he said he felt that he oversold the capabilities of his private security firm responsible for the London 2012 Games. Mr. Buckles described the status of security as "humiliating shambles." The Tribune quoted Mr. Buckles saying, "Clearly we regret signing the contract but now we have to get on and deliver it.”
Terrorists struck Olympic games in the past, including the 1972 Munich Games and the 1996 Atlanta Games. Terrorists also attacked London on July 7, 2005 just days after the announcement of London as the host for the 2012 Games.
