Over the weekend, Christina Aguilera tweeted a picture of the album artwork for her new upcoming release Lotus. The cover features the singer naked with long hair strategically placed on her chest, and blooming out of a lotus flower.
There definitely seems to be a trend emerging in Aguilera's marketing; her latest single is titled "Your Body" and the accompanying photo is one of her nude and wrapped up in sheer cloth. It makes business sense as sex is proven to sell in a more generic sense, but does sex sell music records?

Looks like Christina is imitating some Sarah bright man albumn covers
I think it's that uber blonde hair and bad makeup...she needs a new stylist.
Anyway, she's kinda cute even if she is a bit cross-eyed in this shot.
WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL YOUR LIFE?
Sex sells everything from condoms, to expensive pills, to cars, to motorcycles, to airplanes, right on up to the most expensive ships and planes that congress buys for the military.
Maybe you were trying to win "Dumbest question of the year" award with this?
Does sex sell records? It sure does. For the past few decades, the recording industry has been using Auto Tune and editing to doctor up the voices of the most attractive people they can find. If they need plastic surgery, they get it done. If the results are good, they are worth a try. It helps if they can dance; bonus points for remembering the lyrics.
In the new economy, it's all about cheap/interchangeable labor. Any time the recording industry needs a new star, they can visit nearby strip clubs and look for people who can do Karaoke too.
