The NFL Draft was underway Thursday night. The annual spectacle and make-or-break night for many football teams saw some predictable moves, unexpected drops in rounds, and even some humor. While the New York City crowd was respectful most of the night, they did give NFL commissioner Roger Goodell a bit of a hard time with some fun “What?!” chants in between his pauses. Maybe they thought it was the WWE Draft.
Of course as many predicted days leading up to Thursday night, the top two quarterbacks were selected No. 1 and 2.
Andrew Luck was selected first by the Indianapolis Colts and
Robert Griffin III was selected as No. 2 overall by the Washington Redskins. After failing to sign any relevant free agent, the Miami Dolphins drafted Texas A & M QB Ryan Tannehill, who the general manager claims has as much talent as the first two picks. Guess we'll see about that.
The Cleveland Browns surprised their fans by drafting Oklahoma State QB Brandon Weeden -- going against their word when they told current starter Colt McCoy they weren't drafting that position in round one.
The steal of the draft may have been Syracuse defensive end Chandler Jones, who fell down a few spots from where he was predicted to go (the New England Patriots selected him 21st overall.) At 6'5” with great reach, Jones seems to have the physical tools his famous brothers, Baltimore Ravens player Arthur Jones and UFC light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones, possess. That all being said, did your team make the right pick? Or is the best to come in the later rounds?
Don't worry about Wrs. You do still have Andre for awhile longer which means you need a compliment and not an heir apparent. Having missed out on Blackmon and Floyd I've been reading up again on the remaing WRs. A lot of interesting second round options.
Thing about the Rams is that I'm not too worried about the defense. One thing under Spagnuolo and all the cock ups he had, he did get some guys to play. There are strengths there. Even Brockers will make our front line scary and open JL55 up more.
My concern is the offense which was about as bad an offense as I've ever seen last year. We need weapons and line help and running depth.
Just got back from lunch at TGIF...saw my first #10 GRIFFIN III jersey! LOL
