New Music You Should Hear: Heartless Bastards

I heard this song on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic today and was immediately transfixed. After many flustered "Shazam" attempts while maneuvering through traffic, I was relieved and amused when Jason Bentley announced that the artist was Heartless Bastards. I wouldn't forget to look that up.
Their name conjures up an image of 1980's Sunset Strip rock 'n' roll excess, which is a delightful juxtaposition with their actual sound and feel: a steady paced ebb and flow of calming grooves mixed with lead singer Erika's Wennerstrom's piercing androgynous vocals.
