NEW MUSIC NOW > Walk The Moon: Who Are You Listening to This Week?
New Music Now!

Meet SodaHead's favorite artist of the week! Last week, we (re)introduced Fiona Apple after a seven year hiatus. This week it's all about Walk The Moon, a Cincinnati-based indie-rock band with style and a sense of humor. The quirky quartet's colorful, energetic presentation and ambitious music videos are reminiscent of bands like OK Go and Vampire Weekend, and they're quickly accumulating a large, dedicated following.
Walk The Moon formed in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 2008, and released their first EP, "The Anthem," that year. Toward the end of 2010 they independently released an album called "i want! i want!" and within a few months, the track "Anna Sun" took off on the radio. Since then, Walk The Moon has been signed to RCA Records and released its first major label full-length on June 15, featuring "Anna Sun" as the lead single.
In frontman Nick Petricca's own words, "Anna Sun" is "about college, about maintaining that little bit of being a kid. Don't be afraid to play." The band expands on that sentiment in the song's official music video, which features light-hearted lip-syncing, choreographed dancing, and face paint. Now face paint has become a kind of trademark for Walk The Moon fans, who have embraced the "Anna Sun" attitude whole-heartedly. Check out the video below, and let us know what you're listening to this week.
