Meet SodaHead's new favorite artist of the week! Last week, we introduced you to San Diego local Low Volts (aka Tim Lowman), and this week we're proud to present The Helio Sequence. The Helio Sequence is a Portland-based duo signed to Sub Pop Records (labelmates include The Shins, Fleet Foxes and Band of Horses). They've been around since 1999, and now -- one vocal injury, two record labels, four albums, and one flooded studio later -- they're ready to release their fifth studio album titled Negotiations on September 11, 2012.

Check out The Helio Sequence's new single "Hall of Mirrors" below. It's a trance-inducing track with a calming groove and bewitching melody. Their sound is decidedly spacey and ethereal, which coupled with their lyrics ("Walking out in the hall of mirrors, going round in the ether") begets an otherworldly feel. My eldest daughter won tickets to an all acoustic intimate concert being put on by these guys next week. So I've been listening to their tunes for the past couple of days.She also gets to go backstage and meet the members of the band. She's always been lucky like that in winning the radio call-in contests! Didn't get that from me. My eldest sister used to be lucky like that too!

I do not really listen to music. I listen to Old Time radio shows, mostly. Recently i was listening to the Dixie Chicks and Betty Hutton on my Ipod, but that was weeks ago.

MGMT - Time to Pretend - I know, older song but still well worth the listen. I much prefer the speed and tone of the video to the album track though. I also hate how they show the wrong singer in the video.
