New Music Now!

Meet SodaHead's new favorite artist! Last week, we introduced California indie band The Neighbourhood. This week, we're hooked on Emeli Sandé, a Scottish soul singer. And we're not the only ones! Alicia Keys says Sandé is "... a magnificent new artist from the UK…Hearing her voice against a guitar sends you into the mood." And as for Adele? Well, a few words from her do wonders, saying "How incredible is she" of Sandé.
Like LP, Sandé is a prolific songwriter who has worked behind the scenes for artists like Susan Boyle and Cheryl Cole, but she's also topped the UK charts with her debut solo album, "Our Version of Events," released in February. Now it's time she got her dues in the States. "Our Version of Events" will be released in the U.S. on June 5.
Sandé's short career got off to a great start, but it hasn't all been smooth sailing. She got her first break when she won a record deal through a BBC music competition, but the label renounced its support and tried to pull the plug. However, it wasn't long before she found another taker. She landed a songwriting gig by sending her music out to radio stations, and got another break when she helped rapper Chipmunk get his debut single, "Diamond Rings," into the UK Top 10. Oh and another fun fact about Sandé: Before recording her upcoming album, she took time off to study clinical neuroscience at Glasgow University. Who knew?
Her first album has been two years in the making, but it was well worth the effort. It debuted at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart and sold more than 113,000 copies in its first week. The next week, it was pushed to No. 2 by Adele's Grammy-winning "21," where it sat for two more weeks. Its first single, "Next to Me," peaked at No. 2 on the charts. Check out the video below and let us know what you think! And be sure to check out her Facebook page if you're interested.
So who are you listening this week? Feel free to post videos. We'd love to hear from you!

My sister shared some songs from an alt/punk band called Lemuria with me last night. I thought they were pretty good.
