Meet SodaHead's new favorite artist of the week! Last week we introduced you to Los Angeles' Saint Motel and this week we're pleased to present Birdy. Birdy is only 15 years old, has a record deal and is playing alongside the likes of Neil Young and Stevie Wonder next month at Outside Lands in San Francisco. Pretty impressive.

But even more impressive is that instead of taking the typical Disney tween / pop star route -- not that there's anything wrong with that -- she got her start when she was 12 by recording original songs and coming up with innovative cover songs. Now, before her 16th birthday, her sound is more mature and developed than many artists in their 20's. Check out Birdy's cover of Phoenix's 1901 and look out for original material from her hopefully early next year. What are you listening to this week?

Me too. I love Queen,Led Zeppelin,Michael Jackson and ol school music.
By the way, RAP FROM THE1980S was good but NOT TODAY'S RAP. Today's Rap sucks.

I agree. TODAY'S RAP SUCKS AND KILLS ME AS WELL.
I loooooove Freddie Mercury as well as the other band members. I am a huge Queen fan. Do you have a Facebook?

Jasmine van den Bogaerde (Birdy) was 16 in May but all her released music was prior to that. By chance I caught Birdy on the David Letterman Show quite a few months ago. Became instantly obsessed with listening to her. For days afterwards her videos were streaming to the tv and stereo in an endless loop. If I wasn't watching them her album was playing from Rhapsody. The album is good but there is other instrumentation and of course production. Birdy is at her best live with just a piano.

This is my favorite mostly due to the song's theme. Like Polly Scattergood, "happy tunes" aren't my favs.

The A Team

Really like this too. But then again, I really like them all.

Skinny Love

Been listening to all sorts of stuff this week. But I think today there will be a lot of Birdy.

I'm listening to a lot of Miles Davis, Henry Mancini and Prince this week. Well, I ALWAYS listen to Prince really. I could careless about some gimmicky teen girl who'll be forgotten in a week.
