Her song 'i will always love you' has been an anthem of mine for a long time but no, not personally affected. I feel sorry for those who were and are affected though. thats what is most upsetting.

Didn't know her and I wasn't a fan. Simple as that.

Now can we all move on, or do we need another 40 artists to tribute a song to her followed by another thousand questions on SodaHead?

No disrespect, RIP Whitney, but unless you're family, a friend, or just downright worship her, there's no need to linger on it in my opinion.

Personally I can relate to Whitney. I was simply amazed and wowed by her Superbowl performance in the early 90s. Its hard to be a woman in these days where everything is about being the best, the prettiest, etc. let alone being at the top and then getting into a dysfunctional marriage where things don't work. Makes a womans heart shatter and sometimes life becomes a never ending battle that leads to unhealthy diversions. Sometimes the pain is too much and you find yourself in quicksand slowly sinking.. For beautiful Whitney it seems that her choices got the best of her and it saddens me that an angel left us and a light went out. May she fill the heavens with awe as she filled us with awe as we delighted in her amazing voice and talent Whitney...finally peace to you...forever. You are beautiful!!!! And I will ALWAYS love you!!!

No I wasn't . Yeah she was famous but what about the people that really matter?! I'm talking about our fallen soldiers. They matter the most because they were ordinary people than did so much more than a celeb has done. Yeah she and many more have passed (god rest their souls) but did any give their lives so that we can live ours?

The woman was on a downward spiral. It's selfish for someone to be so out of control with some kind of dependency not giving a darn about anyone else around them. She never should have married that punk Bobby B, and once she saw what he was, she should have gotten away from him before he took her down, which he ultimately contributed to her death indirectly.

I am more affected by our Military men and women who fight for this country with ungrateful SOB's who don't give one damn about what they all do for us daily. I am more affected with where this nation is going. I couldn't care less about Hollywood being more vital or more mourned then the above I mentioned.

You wouldnt understand why she did what she did cause you never walked in her shoes. Everyone has a different background and some tolerate life better than others. Unless you lived her life and knew her pain it is wrong to judge. None of us are perfect. Some cover it better than others and some give up... Please consider that we are all different. We have different beginnings..different endings...

Oh, I don't disagree with that and I'm not trying to judge her but I also happen to believe that the loss of our soldiers are waaaaay more important than the loss of her. People die everyday and many sacrifice, those are the tragic deaths, and they're not always mourned by the world. Again, she had a soaring career and a great voice, but unlike what seems to be the majority on here who "loved or worshipped" her, I did not. Those are my feelings on the topic.

I have to agree with METALheadMom. Why are we paying tribute or honoring drug addicts or drunks? She didn't get laid off, she didn't lose her job. She wasn't about to get evicted from her home. She didn't live on the streets. She had more money than you could shake a stick at yet she chose to drink and take drugs? So we honor and pay tribute to people who choose to kill themselves?

You don't hear a peep about Zina Bethune who died on February 12 by a hit-and-run

choose kill hear peep zina bethune died february 12 hit-and-run

driver while trying to help an injured animal in Griffith Park yet we honor and pay tribute to a drunk and drug abuser? I don't get it.

Nobody is paying tribute. People are mourning her death. We mourn the death of those fallen heroes every day but their not as publicized cause we dont tape wars...we dont follow the soldiers into battle. There have been many movies made for soldiers, police officers, firefighters.... And their honored.... Its just that movie stars have lots of exposure in their lives so theres more to expose in death. Think about it... Nobody is applauding her addictions..we are saying goodbye...what is wrong with that? Have you seen Taking Chance? Its a movie about our fallen soldiers. Watch it...then re-think your post...thx.

I loved some of her music, and was a bit surprised by her death but I wasn't extremely upset over it. Good, hard working, loving soldiers die every single day with out as much recognition as some of artists get that really is what upsets me.

I'm sorry, but I am REALLY REALLY tired of the world "paying tribute" and/ or "honoring" extremely rich drug addicts or drunks who FAILED the game called life. These people have had more money than most of us will make in our lives, they KNOW they are messed up mentally, yet they DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. Hey, I loved Jimi Hendrix, but when he died so dishonorably, I lost A LOT of respect for him. IT LITERALLY MAKES ME ILL that the media and the public makes such a big deal about entertainers basically killing themselves, and RARELY talk about our soldiers who give their lives to protect us. Something VERY VERY wrong with the priorities this country picks.

I'm from a different era. Ella Fitzgerald's death affected me even though she had lived a full life. Same for Sarah Vaughan and any number of the greats from my era. I'm really not a judge of music from the time 0f Whitney Huston. I'll take the word of her contemporaries that she was good. As for me, I never listened to her. to me all the contemporary singers just scream their lungs out. No beautiful dulcet tones, just screaming.

I was not affected on a personal level as I did not know the lady. But I think it is tragic that she was unable to defeat her demons. Addiction is very misunderstood, even in the medical community. An addict's brain actually functions differently than a normal brain. Whitney was a talented and tragic figure. I hope her soul is at peace.

I feel bad for her daughter mainly. I wish she hadn't of died when I heard how close they were. But I was effected by a soldier I trained with this time last year that died in Afghanastan back in November that was only 19. That's something to be effected by.

Good men and women die every day...protecting us. Somewhere in our country, a child is dying right now...killed by an angry or drug affected parent. All around this world good, innocent people, people that are part of the solution, meet their untimely deaths. Yet , here we are again, mourning the loss of a person who, aside from her voice, made no noticeable contribution to mankind. She showed no concern for anything that did not center on her. She was a sad , self-centered individual who believed herself above the rules of our society and the laws of common sense. Years ago, we lost a great voice. What we lost Saturday was a woman who, through selfishness and self-indulgence, had betrayed the confidence and adoration of an entire society that had once loved her. Sorry, Whitney, you alone destroyed the legacy that could have been.

No, it's hard for some of us to "feel" bad over entertainers with massive bank accounts who know where the road they are on will take them, but stay on it anyway. In other words, we don't feel much for stupid rich people.

Yeah. When you've got a life, where, all you pretty much have to do at a certain point is stay alive, and spend money, and you even screw that up, yeah, it's hard for a $8.00 per hour fry cook to have a lot of sympathy for you.
