Very much so. I didn't know her personally but I am familiar with her struggles and she has been in the backdrop of my life since I was child. My 6th grade graduation song was a Whitney Houston song. I relate to many of her songs in terms of relationships I have had ... good or bad.

Seeing as I personally didn't know her, no I wasn't. But I am still saddened, less because she died as much as because the last ten years or so have been a major waste of talent and beauty.

No, she was a great voice, great music and sadly a substance abuse addict, which killed her. I think her family is planning to hold a funeral for 18,000 seats is wrong.
    (News Release)
It’s just not Funeral Etiquette and kind of disrespectful because her death was a tragedy, not a celebration.

I am only affected by how much the media has played this sad situation wherein a woman received a gift from God and forgets where the gift came from. As blessed as Ms. Houston was with God given vocals, she was finished long ago when she first made some very bad choices. From what I hear it's not like she was building her career back or was determined to start making better choices and giving up those things that took her voice. She like many are living in the past not the present. The public places these talented people on pedestals and they can do no wrong, which is in my opinion, more harmful than good. When we are finished with them and the talent is no longer present these so called blessed individuals have a vary hard time existing in a world that no longer exist. As stated, I believe we do more harm than good to people by treating them as though they are somehow better than the rest of us because they can sing, dance or act better than the rest of us and they can do no wrong. I am never surprised by the way these talented individuals get it in their heads that they do not have to suffer consequences for their bad decisions and that they will live forever. After all we created them.

I only know WH as a celebrity therefore it does not personally affect me....but I do felt sad and definitely love her music.

On the other hand, it is very sad to see a beautiful and talented individual died so young and in such a sad way. Drug and alcohol could be your best friends at time, but at the end, they are devils. Also you have to wonder if fames and money really bring any happiness in life....just look at Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse and now Whitney (and many others)....may they all R.I.P..and found happiness in HEAVEN....they all sure will make beautiful music up THERE along with Elvis Presley.

your idolizing somone because they are famous and can sing, neither of those things actually make someone a positive person.

I don't feel affected when any rich drug abuser overdoses. It makes no difference how famous or rich a drug abuser is when she/he self destructs.

This isn't a valid argument. There are millions that deeply care about individuals around the world that die of starvation. Whitney Houston just so happen to be one of the millions that did care and mourned.
