MTV Ignores Own Birthday: Intentional or Accident?

Gee, ya think they could have had some kind of marathon and played all the videos from the past years since the beginning, oh wait they don't play videos anymore.

Do the people that run MTV just hate music? Because I haven't seen music on that channel in a decade!!!

I think they were too blinded by their AWESOMENESS!!!!!!

Why would you celebrate something's birthday when it died over 15 years ago?

MTV, stands for Music Television.....But hasn't played any music video since.........cricket, cricket......

They should change their name considering it has nothing to do with music anymore.......

They can call it JTV now, Junk TV.....Because that is all they show, there is nothing of substance about Reality Shows.......

I think their best years are behind them, boy though, there was some great video's on there!!!

They're spending too much time ruining teenage moms lives and finding yet another pointless topic to start another reality show on.

I mean as a company I'd figure the CEO would especially know when the anniversary is for a company and he would be proud of that.

I'd be ashamed too especially when VH1 classic (,--awesome) celebrates it for them

Please their money maker is Jersey Shore at this point. I was wondering why VH1 was showing old MTV shows while MTV just played JS reruns.

I miss videos. I miss Music television. There's nothing to celebrate really.

Not many people want to admit when they turn 30 years old.

They were so busy with finding douchebags and pregnant teens for their shows they must have forgotten! lol

Does Anyone REALLY CARE....?

I have a hard time a corporation wouldn't of had a huge celebration in mind for their "birthday" unless it was intentional. I'm sure it was planned years in advance, but they figured to not mention it and see if it gets talked about on message boards (they were right). Now more people are talking about MTV and their "shows".

How can a company some up with an original business model, put it into motion, see it works, then move away from it, eventually becoming the exact opposite of what it started as? MTV was an innovator. Even when it added game shows (Remote Control) and a reality show (The Real World) it was showing everyone how new it could be. How often do you turn on the TV now and see another reality series? MTV might not have started the concept, but they put it on the map.

The "powers that be" noticed people were asking, "What happened to the videos?" So, the "brilliant" idea of creating another channel (MTV2) was born where they could go back to they're original format. Videos from popular artists as well as showcasing bands that weren't as well known and the people were happy again. Now, it looks like MTV2 is following the footsteps of it's older brother...

The Chief of the MTV tribe should not only shed a tear for another year that they've moved away from their original concept, but step down.

I agree, I wonder what part of MUSIC TELEVISION they have forgotten.

The "Music" part obviously.

To celebrate, they would be forced to acknowledge the network was once in fact about music and not just complete trash.

They obviously don't want to do that.

Even they didn't want to acknowledge how much they now suck.

They used to be Music TeleVision, now they are all trashy soaps and pretend reality. Yeah, I don't think I would celebrate it either.

I kept looking for a "Who Cares?" option, but maybe MTV figured that out themselves.

They are probably embarassed about how far they have drifted from their original vision. Can't say I blame them.

This is my guess as well. They could care less. They are more concerned about where they are going, and from what I see, it isn't anywhere good.

How does a company of probably hundreds forget an anniversary?

They gave us Jersey Shore. TO HELL WITH MTV!

The channel is not relevant anymore. All the put on is crap.

I miss the time when they actually played wall to wall music videos.
