MTV used to be "the" place to go to keep up with the music scene. Any more it's just a montage of potty mouth reality shows or programming with little or no social or redeeming value and has nothing to do with the music scene. Do you think they should go back to playing nothing but music videos, just pull the plug or look for a new programming director?

Today's music works for it WHEN they play it.reply - J-DUB Roger P 2012/04/06 00:21:04
+2Today's music is prepackaged fluff designed for people who have no taste in music. It would sell cause people will buy anything. I was speaking of the fact today's music would not revive what MTV was and should have stayed. MTV sold out from rebel to pansy.reply -
You know, now that you've cleared that up, I couldn't agree with you more. MTV buckled under the 'racist' claims that they weren't playing enough black music and were being racist. Whatta load...but, MTV buckled and soon became absolutely unwatchable.reply - J-DUB Roger P 2012/04/29 09:13:24

You have hit the nail on the head and put it in such a way that it probably isn't something that's worth a debate any further.reply - Monty Roger P 2012/08/23 03:23:22
omg what? they were accused of being racist? ffsreply -
+1Yes, the rappers got all up in their faces and said they were being ignored by MTV. At that time, MTV was about "ROCK" not RAP and they should have started their OWN channel if they wanted their Rap Crap televised instead of hoarding in on Rock TV. I like some rap and love R&B and other black music, but really, it didn't belong on MTV and it still doesn't. And WHAT do reality shows have to do with MUSIC TELEVISION is beyond me! Why didn't they start a reality series channel? Who gives a crap what Snookie is doing or who Snookie is doing, for that matter?reply - Monty Roger P 2012/11/08 21:48:33
i agree with youreply - Monty Roger P 2012/11/08 21:49:28
i just love it when people play the racism card to get their way.reply - Monty J-DUB 2012/08/23 03:22:55

- cddjmikey 2012/03/30 04:59:58Other (State Your Opinion In An Intellegent Fashion)+1It should be an either or type question. They should play music or pull the plug. They gave us the first sign of the apocalypse with Snooki getting pregnant. I would rather not get anymore !reply

I couldn't agree more! The crap that passes for programming on MTV now is not good for kids or adults...it's rediculously bad fodder for the mindless masses that don't care if their intellegence is insulted.reply -
Go Back To Playing Nothing But Music VideosMiss the days when you could turn on Music Videos for a while, catch up on the music scene and not be plugged in for a half an hour or longer to a show. Plus when there was nothing else on, MTV used to be the fun place to go. Even if you didn't like a video or a song, it only lasted a few minutes then onto something else.reply
- swivelhead 2012/03/30 01:18:47Other (State Your Opinion In An Intellegent Fashion)if you have MTV, you might have subscription TV........if you don't like it, flip the channel....reply

It's what I would tell most folks as well...but, I do miss the days of when there was NOTHING on and you could flip it over to MTV and watch music videos for a while till something worth watching did come on. Kept me up with music and if I didn't like a video, it only lasted a few minutes instead of a half an hour or an hour.reply - swivelhead Roger P 2012/03/30 01:32:51
been awhile since I was planted in front of a broadcast I paid for, but aren't there other music video channels if MTV doesn't float your boat?reply -
+1I miss the "videos" and there are no other music video channels that really interest me. I'm not into country and that seems to be the only alternative, right now. VH1 is no better than MTV...it's programming has gone down the toilet as well. So, right now, I surf the SiriusXM channels and just listen.reply - swivelhead Roger P 2012/04/06 01:50:25
can't say I've subscribed to tv in quite a while....but isn't there
