Check out "The Book of Mormon": there is a bit of the Lion King in it, as well as "A Chorus Line", "Beauty and the Beast", "Oklahoma" and others too: good songs, good story ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
We have tickets to The Book of Mormon in Minneapolis next year. I've seen Oklahoma and a Chorus Line. Didn't get to Beauty and the Beast. My all time favorite is Damn Yankees. Jerry Lewis was the Devil and anything about baseball with Jerry Lewis in it has to be great.
I picked up the BOM soundtrack and have recently started bursting into song in public and with friends for no apparent reason ...
"Two by two, we're marching door to door. " 'cuz God loves Mormons and he wants some more "A two-year mission is our sacrifice, "We are the army of the Church of Jesus Christ "[of Later Day Saints.]"
to me, the sign of a good musical is that it makes you want to BE in a musical so you can just sing ad lib! Ha ha ha!!!
BOM has come to LA (through November) but the tickets are ridiculously expensive ($150 !!!!!), but I've heard that 2 hours before the shows, they can be had (by drawing) for $25 each. I've also heard that BOM will come to Orange County's Performing Arts Center (much closer to Irvine) next year, so I may wait until then (if I can't get the $25 deal).
