Morrissey is at it again, riling up the omnivores with an eccentric approach to veganism.

According to The Mirror, the "Meat Is Murder" singer issued tight security for the final concert of his U.K. tour, telling guards to search fans at the door for any kind of meat products.

As you went into the venue you were funnelled through to the top of some steps where they were carrying out searches. A member of the security staff then went through my bag and told me that they were checking to make sure that I was not carrying any meat products inside.

This isn't the first time the British singer has done something like this. He once stopped in the middle of a show when someone in the audience started throwing meat on stage.

A spokesperson for the venue did mention that security regularly checked guests for anything that could be thrown on stage, which might explain it.

Im no fan of radical animal rights, and I eat no shortage of meat, but think about this for a second and it makes sense. Why would you bring meat into a concert? Bought that porterhouse but forgot you left it in your bag? No, if you have meat products, your probably going to throw it on stage or do something else to piss Morrissey off. Theres no reason to bring meat to a show unless you are planning on being a dick. And he doesn't like meaty being thrown on stage? Hell, I wouldn't like having meat thrown on me either. I don't have to be vegetarian to not like having a pork chop chucked at my head. The vegetarian thing just makes it that much more insulting.

I'm a huge fan of the Moz, I think he is colossally talented. I'm also a vegetarian, because I don't believe in eating something that had a life. However, I don't understand the people who think that it is evil for humans to eat meat, and radical PETA gives me a huge pain in the neck. Though of course, being hit with a steak onstage might give you a bigger pain in the neck. Hmmm...
I lovelovelove his music and writing, but I think that Morrissey seems to be very disapproving and judgemental of those with whom his beliefs clash. Live and let live, Moz.

I would never want to "MEAT" his "MAKER"! I am surprised that he doesn't require every member of his audience and staff to undergo a "HIGH COLONIC" before being admitted to his concert to make sure that no one is "sporting" contraband. I don't care if even my best friend was a vegan, I would still maintain my right to eat what I want, because that is my "ANIMAL RIGHT" Why don't these silly rich activists spend all their easily gotten fortunes on buying up all the food animals so that they are unavailable for public consumption if they are so righteous, and put their money where their LOUD mouths are?

Can resolve that problem....DON'T GO TO ANY OF THIS GUYS VENUES! However, most places of business that have concerts don't allow you to bring food of ANY KIND in the door, as they want you to purchase the food/beverages there. But to have people SEARCHED for meat products, per this guys request, that's going to far.

I love Morrissey and it's his concert so he can decide to do that if he wants. If they've had a history of throwing meat onstage just to make a point, I'd do it too. T-bones to the face? Ouch.
Having said that, I'm going to have to remove the pork chops and filets I always keep in my purse... damn.

Hint: You do not own your talent. The reason you are playing a concert is because the venue allowed you to, and your label allowed you to. If you wish to preach your viewpoint, kindly stop touring and forcing people do as you wish, you primadonna, and go home. When your sales hurt, so do the concert halls you are playing in.

At first I thought people were not allowed to eat anything with meat at is concerts which I agree would be ridiculous (and I'm vegan) but I think it makes sense if it was to prevent people from throwing meat at him.

I think so. I can understand that he has his own personal choices, but I feel like he's almost alienating fans because he's not only having them searched for meat products at shows that they've paid good money to see, but also kind of looking down on them. Apparently he can't accept that he may have fans that do not also follow in his personal lifestyle choices.

It's different for "fans" to just throw meat onstage- that's a bit disrespectful. But still: they're the reason that he's as successful as he is. It seems disrespectful on his part to treat fans in such a way.
