Although she’s only turning 16 in most fans’ minds, Molly Ringwald is actually all grown-up. She’s been acting for decades from the aforementioned “16 Candles” to her more-recent turn on “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.” But Ringwald is also an author.

molly ringwald

Her first book, “Getting the Pretty Back: Friendship, Family and Finding the Perfect Lipstick,” was a collection of essays doling out advice from her own life experiences. But now Ringwald has set her sites on becoming a more serious writer with her new tome called “When It Happens to You: A Novel in Stories.”

She may be the latest actor-turned-author, but she certainly isn’t the first. Everyone from Marlon Brando to Macaulay Culkin have taken a shot at fiction -- some more successfully than others. Although she’s most famous for the “Star Wars" trilogy, a significant number of readers beyond just Princess Leah fanatics have nuzzled up with Carrie Fisher’s books, “Postcards from the Edge,” “Wishful Drinking” and “The Best Awful.”

It’s not unexpected for a sharp-witted comedian like Steve Martin to be the scribe of novellas like “Shopgirl” and “An Object of Beauty.” But some might not know that William Shatner has written over 20 science fiction novels. Henry Winkler penned a series of “Hank Zipzer” kids' books to teach about dyslexia. Lauren Conrad, of course, covers fashion in her “L.A. Candy” series. And James Franco sticks to short stories in his collection “Palo Alto” (insert your own attention span joke here.) So what do you think: Who’s your favorite celebrity author?

Ok having written a book (not published yet) it is not so easy question is who actually wrote any of the above's books, if it says with or and under the author you can bet your sweet comma it was not written by the person with in large print!

I never actually read any of them. I'm not a huge fan of autobiographies, memoirs and so forth, but I had no idea so many of them wrote fiction. I love Carrie Fischer and think she's really intelligent, so I'd love to read her books. Plus I love science fiction and William Shatner, so that seems like a good bet.

Did u notice no one voted for MacCauley Culkin, its because no one has told him that using a person to hang on to ur fading star is,wrong amd writing filth when they're dead and gone is worse than stabbimg them in yhe back when they're alive, shame on u MacCauley!

Way too much time in his closet with a needle and a shotgun. To say his life was crazy would be an understatement.

Steve Martin wrote one of my all time favorite novels, "The Pleasure of my company." I've lost track of how many times I've read that one. If you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend it.

The novel is amazing and sweet. It's about a guy with really severe OCD, and I swear...he writes about it so well, I'd be surprised if he hasn't experienced it himself.

Thomas Paine, Thomas Jefferson, Bill, O'Reilly, Robert Frost, some were celebrities before the word was ever used. For fantasy, any of Obama's factual books!
