There are advantages to attending MIT. You know, besides the job opportunities and sense of accomplishment. A group of MIT students rigged the lighting on one side of the school's Green Building to act as an interactive 9 x 17 Tetris game. Each window acted as a single LED pixel that turned on and off in different colors to depict the actual game, which was played from a console at ground level.

However, this isn't the first time it's been done. According to MIT's Hack Gallery, "Tetris on the Green Building" is the "Holy Grail of hacks," as it's a perfect grid for the 1984 classic. Even before that, it was done by Dutch students in 1995 at Delft University of Technology. Unfortunately, the footage available is less than stellar. Apparently they don't have quality video cameras on-hand at MIT.

They have accomplished much better hacks in the past. As for wasring time, nonsense, they are intelligent kids studying engineering. The hacks are just seklf imposed homework only more fun.

On the original Tetris for NES, I can go from level one to over 100 on the average, I belive the oversized perspective would cause me to not evaluate my placement as quickly once it got fast like level 50 is, saying you started at one.

Can;t really call that the original, Tetris is much older than the NES. It was released in 1984 and the concept is over a hundred years old.

I didn't mean chronologically. I meant the original Tetris, as in basic Tetris. It has two styles of play.

Sigh, it's not ingenious, it's more like an artist using different mediums for their work. Once they set up the grid, they would just have to traditionally program the Tetris game to use that grid, and then play it; they should of been able to get all of the lights working, shakes head...

It almost seems like an 'in your face' , defiance of logic. When I look at it that way, it seems fitting to use the schools 'green building' to waste energy and time . Not to mention, who paid for it ?
