Miley's Dancer Felt 'Less Than Human' After VMA Show: Most Controversial Performance of All Time?
In a recent blog post, one of Miley's backup dancers reveals she felt "less than human" after performing at the VMAs alongside the raunchy pop star.
She recently criticized Miley for pimping herself out to the industry, but Sinead O'Connor's dealt with controversy too. Back in '92, the singer ripped up a photo of a Catholic pope during her "SNL" performance.
Gaga is known to be controversial during her shows, but, last year, the Indonesian government actually tried to cancel the singer's concerts in the country, calling her a "devil worshipper" and "pornographic icon."
Madonna & Britney Spears
It was the lip lock heard 'round the world. Before Miley, there was another controversial VMA performance. In 2003, Madonna and Britney Spears performed together, ending the sexy show with an open-mouthed kiss.
Janet Jackson & Justin Timberlake
In 2004, Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake made Super Bowl Halftime performance history when JT ripped off part of Janet's top at the end of the show, exposing her breast to millions of viewers.
The Dixie Chicks
In 2003, the U.S. was getting ready to invade Iraq and the Dixie Chicks were kicking off a tour in the UK. So, one bandmate, Natalie Maines, shared to the audience that she was ashamed the president was from Texas.
Hollis Jane, a little person who was dressed elaborately in mask and costume, recently revealed in a lengthy blog post that she felt "less than human" after Miley's performance and was "shaking and crying" after the show.
“I love being the center of attention, but that was something different. I was being stared and laughed at for all of the wrong reasons," Hollis wrote on her blog. “For the first time I felt truly ashamed of being a little person... We were being used simply because we were little."
Plus, the backup dancer says she'll never do something like that again. “I will never forget that performance because it is what forced me to draw my personal line in the sand.”
Hollis may have a personal line, but it's pretty clear by now that Miley Cyrus does not. When it comes to her raunchy and off-putting style, the young pop star is unapologetic. But is she the most scandalous performer you can think of?
