Same sad story about famous entertainers hurling themselves down the road of self-destruction.

    Rest in peace, Mike Starr.

Fame distorts the human soul which celebs think they can rectify with drugs of alcohol. This is there distorted perception which leads to their demise. If I were a Celebrity, I would not waste it on my internalized destruction of addiction. Rather, I would ask myself, how could I be of assistance to others in whatever fashion makes me most beneficial to the human race.

I can't help but feel bad. I watched that season of Celebrity Rehab, and I found myself pulling for Mike Starr. He was a mess to be sure. I find it amazing what one can abuse their body for so long and still survive. He seemed like he was going to make it when he came back in the alumni show. R.I.P. Mike Starr.

So Sad Indeed. Mike Starr RIP Dear One.
I am not a BIG FAN of Faith Based Recovery Initiatives HOWEVER I have a dear beloved friend Who is Still Alive, Clean and Sober today. I don't know if it is because of THE PROGRAM or BECAUSE HE IS JUST A REALLY STRONG PERSON.

Addiction is an ugly, ugly thing. And 12-step programs are NOT the answer. We need 21st century medical solutions for chemical dependency, not 19th century religious ones. AA/NA are as much to blame for the lack of progress as is the greedy medical "recovery" community. $50,000 for a rehab with a 5% success rate? Unconscionable.

Awww. addiction to prescription drugs is bad here in my neck of the woods.....I often wonder why Doctors think people need a prescription to Oxycontin. That stuff is so powerful and so addictive...I question why so many people have scrips for it. Are they trying to drug America?

This totally breaks my heart because I watched the entire season on "Celebrity Rehab" and I thought for sure Mike was going to make it with his support system in tact. It just goes to show you that the EVILS of addiction (whether it be drugs, cigarettes, sex, etc.) are REAL. Such a waste of a young life. May your body and soul now be at rest, Mike...no more can these EVILS haunt or taunt you, my friend.

I'm wonder when hollywood is going to wake up and realize that there isn't enough money in this world to make them happy, it's a sad thing that so many talented people have allowed drugs to take over their lives.

Judy Garland was not young when she passed, she may have died before her time...but she wasn't young by any stretch of the imagination...other names such as Mama Cass,Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, would be more appropo..... :)

she was 47, not young...I usually think it's a shame if somebody passes in their teens, twenties or thirties, because that it is young...forties back then was middle aged, by the sixties people retired and die...now with people living ridiculously long (80's, 90's), we have an altered opinion of what is middle-aged, or young compared to 30-40 years ago..

Judy Garland did a lot of living in her 47 years, lot of husbands, lot of alcohol, lot of uppers and downers....she may have been 47 but she looked a bad 60plus....no one was surprised when she passed
