And the new Regis Philbin is ... Michael Strahan! The former New York Giant will sit beside Kelly Ripa on "LIVE! with Kelly" in September, multiple sources told Broadcasting & Cable. The 40-year-old NFL star is currently a football analyst on Fox NFL Sunday, a role he is expected to retain.

Ripa has featured a rotating cast of co-hosts since Philbin left the show late last year (after 28 years on the job). Rumored replacements for Regis have included Seth Meyers of "Saturday Night Live" and Neil Patrick Harris. Do you think Strahan is the right man for the job?

Absolutely!! He was a great player and has carried his talents over to broadcasting. He has charm, intelligent and has a rugged sort of good looks and will be a perfect "counterfoil" to Ripa.

The only reason they will put him on the show is to get more male viewers...and then they will tune out because it's the same as it was before...he will not bring ANYTHING to the show.

Yeah, I think he'll be funny and when it comes to former Giants going into TV I like him way better than Tiki Barber. I read he sold his house in Hermosa Beach that he shares with his fiance (Eddy Murphy's ex-wife). I really don't know anything about him, or why he might make a good co-host. I'll just have to see him first and then decide. I have loved Regis Philbin for decades, so it's hard for anyone else to stack up against him whom I know nothing about.

I am hopeful, but skeptical that he will wear well day after day. i preferred the spontaneity of Seth Meyers and Joel McRae, but perhaps they were unavailable. Out of all the rest, Michael was as good or better than the rest--so I am cheering for him. i was not thrilled when Kelly was chosen, but I was WRONG!!! Hope I am now, too. Congrats to Michael--I will be watching!!!

Yes

Strahan is intelligent and will bring a different touch to the show. Regis was great and it will be hard to replace him but Mike will appeal to more men. Having Kelly Ripa on the show will keep the guys tuned in. I expect good things from this... there's nothing wrong with showing a bit of diversity
