Michael Jackson to Appear on Pepsi Cans: Acceptable or Inappropriate?

Rumors of a Michael Jackson hologram might still hold weight, but they won't be the first reappearance of the late King of Pop. First, Pepsi is making him the King of Soda Pop. Pepsi announced it will be featuring the deceased performer in its latest ad campaign by printing his image on Pepsi cans, in a television ad, and by distributing remixes of his songs through promotional offers. It's going to be an international ad campaign, and according to News One, the nature of the campaign will vary by country.

Jackson actually has a history with Pepsi, and it's not a pretty one. He first worked with them in 1983, when he appeared in a commercial with "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" star Alfonso Ribeiro. Jackson continued to work with them until a faulty firework severely injured him. But now that the singer is no longer with us, there's obviously not danger of that happening. The new campaign will be closely tied to the ads Nicki Minaj has been working on, and will reportedly include upwards of one billion "limited edition" MJ cans.

If this happens I'll never take another sip of pepsi ever. I don't get mj he's a legend but he was a fake girl practically who is now most likely melted down into legos or something.

Damn let the poor man rest in peace. The Houstons and the Jacksons are all too money hungry. Especially old Joe Jackson.

he did a Pepsi commercial before. it wasn't their fault that his hair caught fire. it was an accident, & I doubt Michael had anything against them for it. I think he would be fine with it, & his family are obviously fine with it, so it's fine. I find it that they're kind of honoring him after his death.

Who the hell do they think they are ? they were the ones who first started to ruin his life, it pretty much all began with the incident that happened where because Michael didn't listen to himself, he got his head burned. Pack of muppets. I hope they don't do it. yes it could be a nice tribute but not when you think of what they did.

totally inappropriate ! obvsly pepsi will just be doing this to make money when really they were the ones whos killed him ! if he hadnt have had the fire accident he wouldnt have been in pain therefore he wouldnt have got addicted to painkillers and died. if anything its totally dis-respectful.

he didn't die from pain medication. he died from the doctor giving him anesthesia(which he should never have given him), not because he was in pain, but because he couldn't sleep.

Michael's estate has been hijacked by fake "executors" and SONY. The Judicial system of California, denied any of his family a say in his estate. They have no legal say about what happens to his legacy or anything else. This is an injustice of monumental proportions. The "executors" even issued an injunction against his own mother who put together a picture book of Michael for his fans.

I do think Jackson felt more all the way around comfortable around children. Look at his place. I don't know that I'm ready to condemn him for being a pedophile, because I really do not know. But I do know that enough people believe that he was, so yes, if I totally believed that, I would be pissed that Pepsi did this. There's no call for them to not care about so sensitive a subject. Not necessary even. I did like his music, know that he was king at what he did, but that's not enough to warrant or override a stick it in your face, we don't care what you think to people who are incensed about this subject and Jackson.

He did an innocent advert of Pepsi back in the 80's so I have no problem with that. His hair going on fire bit happen due to on stage was due to the pyros made a mistake but I don't use that as an excuse.

First of all, if the public really knew what "poison" soda really is, they would know that it should be illegal. Second, anything that associates Michael with ghetto trash like Niki Minaj should be banned.

I remember when that Pepsi commercial incident happened. I think it's acceptable and he was the "King of Pop." I never believed that he molested any kids, I think in his mind he was a child himself and thought it was acceptable to hang out with them as if he was their age. (By that I don't mean the sexual way).

Pepsi obviously has some agreement with the Jackson estate, and I'm sure it's all legal and aboveboard.

That being said, Pepsi is a horrible company that sells poison to children, and Michael Jackson was a child molester, so I had to vote inappropriate. I don't allow soda pop or Michael Jackson music in my house.

Being found 'not guilty' doesn't mean a thing. He paid for a good lawyer and beat the courts- rich people do it all the time. I've read accounts of his inappropriate behavior towards a young boy in public.

I bet your source of information was the controlled media. Michael went to court to defend himself. The "facts" were presented and he was found not guilty. Sneddon had all the power of the state to try his case. The facts were, it was a sham all along, meant to bring Michael down, which it did. Cite the accounts you've read about.
