Michael Jackson: Dad Of The Year?

SodaHead Music June 01, 2010 04:08:47
Although Michael Jackson was often less than responsible with his own fortune, he’s ensuring – from beyond the grave – that his children won’t make the same mistakes.

According to MJ’s trust, the three children, Prince, Paris and Blanket, get 40% of Michael’s estate, Katherine Jackson gets 40% to use during her lifetime, with the remainder going to the children upon her death, and the final 20% going to charity.

But here’s the kicker. The kids can’t touch their inheritance until they reach the age of 30, when they’re grown and (hopefully) fiscally responsible adults. In the meantime, all through their childhoods and into their 20s, they’re only given what amounts to an allowance, to be determined by the estate’s trustees. When they’re 30, they then inherit 1/3 of their respective shares. And at 35, the inherit ½ their share and finally, not until they turn 40, do they get control of their full inheritance.

So no wasting money on oxygen chambers, excessive plastic surgery or Elephant Man remains for these kiddies. At least not until they’re old enough to know better...
You!

First off,, (I hate sick gossip) the oxygen chamber is used for burn victims, thanks to Michael Jackson donating to finding this help for children who suffered burns, after he himself was burned, experiencing the extreme pain burn victims go through, he wanted to help. Yes, he laid in the chamber to see if it was comfortable for them. And some selfish @#%*&@ made money selling vicious stories to gullible idiots.

there was never a oxygen chamber, it was a piece of equiptment which was used at the Michael Jackson Burn Centre where he donated money for burn victims.
And he did not buy the elephant man's bones, he just loved the story because he felt he could relate to the man who, much like him, was bullied because of his appearance.

As far as those kids not being his biological kids: A) so what if they are not? Millions of kids are conceived using alternate methods for varying reasons. Maybe Michael was afraid of passing on Lupus & Vitiligo (both of which are hereditary. B) the kids mights actually be his biological kids. Have you ever seen mixed race kids? Check out photos of Rashida Jones (Father Quincy Jones: black, Mother Peggy Lipton: white) C)They were Michael Jackson's kids either way. They loved & adored him and vice versa.

Prince, 13, Paris, 12 and Blanket, 8, will have access to 40% of Jackson's estate worth an estimated $300 million. At the age of 21, the three will gain access to the money via a trust fund that was set up by the pop star. The amount will increase over the years due to merchandise sales, estate auctions and interest from the bank.

In the documents obtained by NOTW, Michael's mother, Katherine Jackson, will receive 40% of the estate and 20% will got to charity. His ex-wife Debbie Rowe, father Joe Jackson and the Jackson brothers and sisters were not named in the documents.

Next month will mark the 1-year anniversary of Jackson's death. The King of Pop died on June 25, 2009 at the age of 50.

Michael did the right thing! Suppose he learned from his own life. When he was a child and teenager his people/family gave him waste amounts of money. Michael said himself that he got all that money, just like that, in his hand, and all he could think about was that he wanted to buy sweets (mind you, it was HUGE amounts, and he was just a little kid)! It was always about the money, he learned that money and fame were the most important values in life. This was, of course, a major lack of responsibility from the adults around him. Michael didn't learn how to handle money, there was always much more than enough. I believe he didn't want his kids to have the same relationship to money and fame as he had, he protected them against the media/public and as it seems, wished to make them understand that money isn't the most important thing in life, and that they have to work in order to earn and deserve it. We all know about his financial problems during the last years of his life. He wasn't stupid, he understood (some of) the reasons for his troubles, and he didn't want his children to get the same problems as himself. They'll be safer, because the danger of extortion and people using them is much smaller (Michael had his share of that, and more, as we all know). His kids haven't got access to large amounts when they're young and still learning and making mistakes. They have to (?) get an education and work for their living, and won't be like some other celebrity-kids who don't have to work and just live on their parents' money, partying, drinking, taking drugs... When MJ's kids are older, and have learned to live responsible, normal lives, they get more of Michael's money, and hopefully use them like they ought to. Michael did what he could, now it's up to us and the media to show responsibility when it comes to his kids. I hope they get good, happy, normal lives! We must make that happen!

Yes. But I didn't know that a father's worth is measured by how he divides his money and not by the love he gave to his children during his life. I bet that if someone would ask his children if they'd choose to have their father alive or the money.... they'd choose the first one. And that simply says why he is, was, the greatest father to them.

I'm sorry Father of the Year? Did the judges drink before doing this. Alcohol poisoning must be massive amongst that group? He left his family in Debt and he gives finaicial advice to his own. You got to be kidding.
My sorrow always goes to the Jacksons. I am glad he learned from the errors of his ways but i were him...i would stop giving financial advice from beyond the grave. As it lead Michael's family to fix his 4 million tab here on Earth.

He was obviously a great father. One just has to look at those kids and hear them speak to realize how much Michael gave them, aside from any $$$. Anyone who would criticize Michael should just look around and see how their own kids would fair when matched against the poise, intelligence, manners and compassion of Prince, Paris & Blanket.

On a side note. The author references Michael spending $$$ on "oxygen chambers, excessive plastic surgery or Elephant Man remains". The facts are: the oxygen chamber was at a burn center that Michael funded, he got in it and had his photo taken. He didn't actually own one of his own. He never bought the "elephant mans" bones, that was a rumor based on the fact that he loved that book & movie.
He did have some plastic surgery (just like a lot of people) but it wasn't as much a people speculate and wasn't all for the reasons that most people assume. I saw an interview with a doctor who examined Michael after he had passed and his feeling was that some of the surgeries were to mitigate damage caused by his suffering from Lupus. It badly damages the cartilage (ie. his nose) and can cause nasal passages to collapse.

I never said he was a bad Dad. I just thinks it interesting he found a need to change his looks. He looked just fine in the beganing. All the changes he made to his face was not nessecary. Also you got to remember the years he was in concert may have made it improbable for him to spend time with his kids.

He had some operations, but when I look at these photos, I ask myself what actually has changed between those photos and years...? The right photo is made just before he died. He looked very good, unbelievable that he was 50! Most celebs from Hollywood look like ... well... like they are from Hollywood.

changed photo died looked remember 50 years celebs hollywood hollywood

But he did some obvious changes, his nose (because his father said it was big and ugly), the cleft in his chin (because the media said he looked like a girl), his skin color (because he had vitiligo and lupus)... I wonder if he had changed so much if his father and the media hadn't commented his looks in a negative way.

Of course they have. In their eyes they think pointing out stuff like this makes Michael into a better person. I would agree with Nellieo's position on this. As Michael suffered from Lupus. There are always physcological reasons to why we do what we do. In Michael's case he grew up feeling he had to always get his father's approval.
As you know he also has a history of child abuse as well. This unfortunately was not prevented in Michael's case. I feel for him. However for those who have noted the differences in the pictures shown above. It would appear Michael tryed to become Healthy again. This i do applaud. Being Healthy is a good thing.
Michael was and always will be talented. His next concert assuming it actually happend...would have been sold out. He was busy not just getting ready for a concert but perhaps a time where he could retire from being a pop star and becoming a Dad. Those who are Dads know this is a big responsibility. I see it everytime i visit my brother.
There is really no need to comment on his looks. His Dad knew this and in my heart of hearts i have a feeling The Jackson Five was nothing without Michael.

However one thing i would agree with the Michael Jackson fan club is he was a hell of a entertainer. From his famous 80's to current date. This man made us think more of others far across the sea then any President we have had thus far.
This man changed when the lights was on him. He was in his groove deal...i still love listening to him today on the radio. He earned more music awards then any music star alive today. His looks are not all there is to Michael Jackson. The media would have you believe whatever they chose to have you believe...but know this there is more to Michael Jackson then the work that he had done on his face. He is truelly a legend. Those who would try to rape that image of him are only going to hurt themselves. Thank you.

I'd like to add my opinion on the surgeries. Michael was a perfectionist, remember the surgeries didn't start till after he was accidentally burned on the head doing that pepsi commerical. I wonder how many out there had a father who criticized their looks as a child? Could that abuse lead to this? I don't know, I just know Michael gave back, he never stopped giving (how many on here can say that:) The world is a much sadder place without this wonderful man, humanitarian, activist.

This was a very good decision that Micheal made for his children. Father was a very loving father and I must say, his children seem to be very compassion like their father. His children are also very intelligent and they have such good manners. I really miss and loved Micheal who had such a loving, caring, concern, and giving spirit. But, his music will live on in the people's hearts that he have touched the most! I pray God's blessing upon his children and the rest of his family.
