It became clear Wednesday night that while both Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire are talented, New York fans aren't getting what they paid for. More specifically, New York Knicks management isn't getting what they paid for. They definitely aren't paying for being on the wrong side of a first round series lasting all of five games. Of course, it didn't help the Knicks by losing to the arch rival Miami Heat. Stoudemire's fire extinguisher punch that sidelined him a game didn't help matters either. So what better way for the Heat to bid farewell to the Knicks?
By trolling Stoudemire of course. After Stoudemire fouled out of Game 5, the PA announcer of the Heat proclaimed Stoudemire has been “extinguished from the game.” Well, you can't say that punch wasn't one of the dumber sports moments in recent history....It stinks to be the New York Knicks right now. The Knicks' two most promising young prospects are injured. Jeremy Lin got injured before the playoffs and never played once during the team's first round series with the Miami Heat. Iman Shumpert tore his ACL early in the series. Of course, the Knicks also didn't play very well four out of five games—except in their lone win in Game 4.
On Wednesday night, “Bye Bye Knicks” was trending on Twitter for a reason. Well, for starters, the Knicks were eliminated from the playoffs. While it was the second straight playoff appearance for the once lowly-franchise, they still failed to live up to high expectations. With all that being said, should that Heat PA announcer have really poured more gasoline on the crashing and burning Knicks future?
