Metallica cryptically revealed the title for their new album over the weekend. In a series of posts on their website the band gradually spelled out Death Magnetic, which is due out in September.

Although the band is playing the festival circuit this summer, no new material has been performed at live shows. Sneak previews of the new material hints at a true return to form for the long-running group.

Metallica frontman James Hetfield said that working with new producer Rick Rubin was a refreshing change after parting ways with long time producer Bob Rock.

"It was time to get a fresh set of ears. Bob has done amazing stuff with us. It got a little comfortable. Maybe the fire wasn't there as much, in our viewpoint." he said.
