"
The Masters is the first of the four majors, the most prestigious tournaments (if not the most lucrative) played each year by golf professionals. The other majors are the US Open Championship (June), the British Open Championship (July), and the PGA Championship (August). Winning a major gives a player immediate recognition, corporate endorsements, and a degree of economic stability in a profession that requires players to qualify for the tour every year."

I can sometimes get into watching golf. The most interesting Championship that I have ever watched was the 2009 Open Championship where Tom Watson almost won. I was really disappointed that he didn't because it would have been awesome to see him win 32 years after his "Duel in the Sun" and becoming the oldest major champion.

Not really, although I usually wind up watching some of it every weekend. My husband was an avid golfer before having spine surgery, and still enjoys watching it. I actually enjoy watching golf more than most other sports, except soccer and horse racing.

I enjoy the sport. However, watching it on TV leaves a lot to be desired. But, come Sunday, I will probably plop myself down and dream I am in Augusta.

Yes I will, it kind of means that spring is finally here, the course is always beyond compare, it's always nice to see how it's supposed to be done, and it was one of those times each year my late father and I could just sit and watch without controversy. Baseball was out of the question he was a lifelong Cubs fan and I'm a Cardinal fan through and through so the conversation could turn unpleasant when the teams met. :)

I follow the PGA and the LPGA. Quite frankly I have found the LPGA to be more interesting. I got sooooo tired of tiger cussing, spitting, and scowling at the crowd that I had to record any PGA and fast forward through him and all the damn replays of him. They would even show him walking around when other more interesting golfers were taking their shots or putts.

I've always heard that the worst waste of real estate was golf courses and cemetaries.
  • Pete Boo 2011/04/09 17:28:09
    Pete
Your point on the waste of Good Real estate is well taken, now picture this......Why not build the cemetaries on finished dump sights where you can't build anything that live people can live in or shop at? Valid point,,,What do you think?

Well unfortunately, less than ethical business people are building on dump sites every time you turn around. What about those who want to have graveside funerals for their loved ones? I personally plan to be cremated and own no cemetary plots.

It was just a joke! My husband loves golf, and I in no way meant that we should do away with golf, golf courses, or cemetaries. I even enjoy rambling around in old cemetaries. They are very interesting historically.

I am to be cremated also, after they take the useable parts and give them to someone in need..................I still feel the same about golf, I have better things to do than chase a little white ball around a grassy field! Sorry.

Golf on TV is about as exciting as witching either scoccer or two old ladies quilting. I can't make up my mind which? Or maybe watching my escargot trying to escape by crawling off my plate in a French restaurant. -- Yer pal, Ferrari Bubba
