There are few Hollywood romances more legendary than the one between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton -- so perhaps it's not surprising that Martin Scorsese wants to direct a movie about them.
Paramount Pictures is finalizing a deal to develop the movie, based on "Furious Love," a book about their tempestuous love story, Deadline.com reports.
Taylor, who passed away in March at age 79, fell in love with the married Burton on the set of "Cleopatra." At the time, Taylor was 29 and already married to her FOURTH husband, singer Eddie Fisher, who caused the tabloid scandal of the day when he left his wife Debbie Reynolds to be with her.
Even the Vatican condemned the affair between the married stars. Nevertheless, Taylor and Burton divorced their spouses, married in 1964, and divorced in 1974. They remarried the following year, but divorced for a second time in 1976.
In the end, the iconic violet-eyed beauty was married eight times, including twice to Burton. But Burton remained the love of her life.

"There are persistent rumors that Kaye was either homosexual or bisexual, and some sources claim that Kaye and Laurence Olivier had a ten-year relationship in the 1950s while Olivier was still married to Vivien Leigh. A biography of Leigh states that the alleged relationship caused her to have a breakdown."
