Paul Mccartney has had more success than just about all the others. Not saying he's the best artist, just that he's had the most success. Most of the others have done quite well on their own.

I would say Sting. He had a very successful solo career. :)

It's hard to choose between Sting & John Lennon.

Excellent call. I decided to keep it narrow and only throw out rock & roll icons. I would have had a list of 30 artists if I didn't keep it narrow. You should do one! I really thought more people would respond, but maybe the old heads like me just aren't hip enough for the room.

Good choice, but I left him out bk he's been pretty invisible for a while now.

Not to me. But I understand what you mean.

Good thing I was here to remind everyone. :)

I thought this topic was gonna catch on fire; but it's pretty much DOA. I may throw one out there with stuff the kids can appreciate...like Beyonce or Justin Timberlake. If I had included something about Obama, it would have gone viral, as I am finding SodaHead is hate on Obama 24/7, which is silly to me.

It's hard to know just what will take off here, sometimes.

One way to increase your chances is to touch on people's nerves. Politics do it every time but I won't 'go there'.

I also love his music. but, I think he's winding down.

I think so too. And he deserves to, by what I have read in his autobiography.

We'll hear something new before the end though, I'm sure. (I hope.)

I read it too. That's what gave me that impression.

Well, he's had a great career and he's pushing 70. If that's what he wants to do, he's certainly earned it.

I don't think he's done. But, I think he's definitely going to do the music he wants & go at his own pace. No more worrying about what will sell or getting product out on time.

So true. He's got it all and I hope he lives a good long while to enjoy the fruits of his life-long labor and his beautiful family.

Tough choice; but I didn't include Paul because I am operating under the belief that Lennon indicated he was leaving first. Let me know if I'm wrong.

I thought you were indicating rock stars that had more successful, which in my eyes equals more profitable careers lol.

No dude, success is measureable artistically, financially, etc. I tried to keep it to people who maintained artistic integrity, in my mind and didn't 100% sell out.....i.e. Phil Collins.
  • MrFabulous47 2012/04/30 22:19:33
    Robert Plant

Other than Roth, my goof nominee, they've all been successful; but I'd have to go with Plant because he has successfully explored many different styles of music & won some Grammy's along the way.
