Slamming Closer magazine for publishing the pics, the couple's office said Friday that "their royal highnesses have been hugely saddened to learn that a French publication and a photographer have invaded their privacy in such a grotesque and unjustifiable manner," The New York Times reports.
In the images, Kate was sunbathing at a villa in Provence (where sunbathing topless is de rigueur). But, the royal couple truly believed that nobody was watching them. "Their royal highnesses had every expectation of privacy in the remote house. It is unthinkable that anyone should take such photographs, let alone publish them. Officials acting on behalf of their royal highnesses are consulting with lawyers to consider what options may be available to the Duke and Duchess," the statement continued.
This is only the latest embarrassment for the royal family. Last month, various media outlets published photographs of Kate's brother-in-law, Prince Harry, partying naked in Las Vegas.

Now bearing in mind that the biggest expense from the Republican party we have is about £200,000,000. Even if you upped that by £600,000,000 accounting for extra security costs and how the public authority accommodates the royal family. There is STILL a huge benefit to the country.
Many private organisations work with the queen on a commercial basis and the royal family is always working around the world engaging business interests and bring more industry to both the commonwealth and the UK in particular.

If it wasn't for the obvious and practical benefits...I've personally benefited from Prince Charles...I'm currently benefiting from Princess Anne and I have also benefited from Queen Elizabeth through their direct actions... then I'd be of the same view as I am about Christianity. I'd be a complete Republican. As it is I value tremendously everything they do for me and my community. I guess half the time they don't even realise it.
There are a lot of rich people who are only interested in themselves and don't help anyone else and could be got rid of as parasites but the Royal family isn't one of them. For as long as this remains true, I'll remain a Royalist.
