Count Madonna among the many people outraged over Russian punk band Pussy Riot's conviction on hooliganism charges. After three members of the feminist group were sentenced to two years in prison last Friday for performing a "punk prayer" in a Russian cathedral protesting Russian President Vladimir Putin, Madonna issued a statement slamming the conviction, according to The Huffington Post.

"I protest the conviction and sentencing of Pussy Riot to a penal colony for two years for a 40 second performance extolling their political opinions. Even if one disagrees with the location or how they chose to express themselves, the sentence is too harsh and in fact is inhumane. I call on all those who love freedom to condemn this unjust punishment. I urge artists around the world to speak up in protest against this travesty. They've spent enough time in jail. I call on ALL of Russia to let Pussy Riot go free."
Meanwhile, Russian police are searching for more members of Pussy Riot, a police spokeswoman said, according to The Guardian. Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, 22, Maria Alyokhina, 24, and Yekaterina Samutsevich, 30, have already been in jail for five months. Will you join Madonna in supporting Pussy Riot?

Just how many of our US laws are seen as being unjust in the eyes of other countries. We as Americans hate when other countries step on our feet over our laws, yet here we are asking to step on the feet of another country.

Russia seems fine to have an opinion as long as one keeps it to oneself
Jackie, Excuse me - we have more freedom's than Russia? There are many whom would disagree! Me right here, yes, count me! Pussy Riot didn't just drag a church; they broke into a major, government event and pissed people off, big time! Disrespect is not harmless entertainment; It's disrespectful. How would we know about respect? Who in this country knows anything about respect? From the top down!
It's Russia, they have their own rules and have nothing to do with us. This whole thing has nothing to do with USA.
Later, have a good day
"NO! way I won't stay!"
It's my belief that pushing american ideals on the rest of the world is a mistake - regardless of whether or not I agree with the way another country or culture does things.
I think the only time other countries should really be getting involved is when genocide or other truly inhuman acts are involved. Just my opinion.
Oh and, last time I checked, it was almost impossible to trespass on a Church.
The only thing that's "unjust" in the American justice system, is allowing the psychos who murder multiple people in cold blood to escape the ultimate form of punishment, on the premise of insanity, or some other legal technicality or law.
