Lyrics or Music

Its the music that sets the mood behind the words. If I want really great words, I read a book :)

I think music and lyrics are both crucial in music. Both give a song an emotion and a story and that's what makes it so amazing.
Some songs have better lyrics than music, and vice versa, but I think BOTH are amazing.
Lyrics are usually what first draws me to a song or band though...

Classical music is great, but what about songs like Hearts "Crazy on You" It has great poetic lyrics and a rockin tune.
I have liked songs for their melodies and have liked songs for their lyrics.

i listen to the words, then again at other times it is the music or both, most of the time it is the music that takes me back to my younger years, then as i got older i listened more to words. but it is better if the music and song both are good. i like to be able to understand the words in a song. , like bon jovi but i love all kinds of music.... except rap hip hop heavy metal and hard rock. opera, or lawerance welk music, dont like weird eerie music either, and really dont like christian music of today, now i like the old time gospel songs and groups, i do like michael smith some songs. and i dont like the country counry country twangy songs. my mom like celtic music, and she has even got me liking some of it, i guess because i have an irish friend and they sing a lot about their life, sounds like they are a bunch of drinking fools. ha think you will like this one.

Bon Jovi is hot! My favorite Irish group is the Wolfetones...check them out on YouTube sometime and get back to me!! It's all about the lyrics for me!

I prefer to listen to music without lyrics. Or if the great songs do have good lyrics, they aren't played on the radio.

Some songs, I like the lyrics. Some songs, I like the music. It depends on the song. I took a weeklong summer course last year with my friends analyzing music. It was cool, we had to figure out which songs were lyrical and which were musical.

i like good lyrics especially ones that i can relate to some part in my life............ but i'm not a poetry person so a good beat is great

I'm really a big lyrics guy. The music has to be good too, but if the lyrics are bad, the song isn't any good, usually.

Sometimes I can't tell what they are saying. It really disappoints me when I really love a song for its sound, then I look the lyrics up, and they are completely awful. Fortunately, that rarely happens, because I usually listen to old songs.

I like both of them. Together you get a good song (depends on who is playing it for me).

Whenever there is a song i like, I pay attention and learn the lyrics because I like to sing along sometimes. I pretty much know the lyrics to every song on my ipod.

The lyrics have to be there for me to be interested. If I can't understand what they are saying or it's screaming and yelling, then I don't care how good the music sounds, I'm just not interested. To me the lyrics make the song! It tells a story and the music makes it that much better!

It's the music that hits me first. The tone of voice/instrument...the melody...interpretation. It takes a while for the lyrics to sink. Good question!
