LISTEN > Bieber's Song About Paternity Claims: Appropriate or Odd?

Justin Bieber was faced with some pretty serious charges in November when 20-year-old Mariah Yeater claimed she was mothering the young pop star's child. It didn't take long for the whole thing to blow over, but it was enough to inspire Bieber to write a whole song about the experience. He changed the name a little bit to "Maria" and calls the baby a "she," though the baby was a boy, but the reference is obvious.

In May, Bieber explained, "The whole baby situation, where they said I had her baby -- totally not true, by the way -- I wrote a song about that. It's kind of my 'Billie Jean.'" Now that his sophomore album "Believe" is out, you can give the track a listen and let us know what you think. Is the song an appropriate response to the situation, or is it a weird way to deal with the trouble?

I really like this songs of JB. "Boyfriend" is the first single from Bieber's third studio album "Believe", which is set to hit stores in the U.S. on June 19.

i personally love the line "Cause she's dying for my attention" and then he makes this song about her, giving her the attention she craves. Funny.

Personally i think they just wanted it to be a fake "Billie Jean"... I do like the song, but i think it's odd.

Going out with Selina Gomez and paternity questions in the same time frame? Real strange, but like other flashes in the pan, even if he turns down the heat, he's likely to burn out before he becomes tiresome at 20.

Well the woman who inspired Billie Jean said Michael was the father of ONE of her Twins. Now that is possible if she is a dog, cat or otherwise but certainly not human unless its a medical miracle but clearly hers wasn't.
Now, that song had its own legend as Michael would have died in a car burn up if it weren't for a fan who detected it and raised the alarm. It saved his life and he had just finished penning Billie Jean.
Justine on the other hand went through a paternity test which meant he did play with her and paid the price for the publicity. If you didn't sleep, there is no slip and it would have been baseless and chose to ignore as the Billie Jean woman still files lawsuits to this day thinking she would get lucky with a win of the finance forgetting This Time Around, Michael went I am ready, get on with it and took it as his routine fan madness as the case gets tossed out the door with the other having to pay the compensation to Michael each time. Because he never touched her so no paternity test but we got the evergreen song instead which is a Hall of Fame Classic. Michael is Immortal while Justine (prefer that name) is a shooting star who will burn out in time.

Justine is great but to me, a passing star till he finally lets it get into his head and the attitude problems (already seen) starts to crop up.

I don't like Bieber's attempt at music. But , if this woman is going to lie about paternity she deserves what she gets.

Song writers write down what they feel. I may not like Bieber's music, but at least he's writing from experience...at least he's writing his own songs at all.

First of all, all he's doing is denying the accusations, Kinda makes sense to me. He's still a kid he's emotional and hormonal so he wrote down what he feels. Now understand, it's mundane, repetitive and commercial, but at least it seems honest. Not good, just honest. (Justin Bieber sucks... That's my opinion you can't argue with opinion so there... Thank you.)

Think if he put a little emotions into the song rather than just words, the song would have done it a lot better. Felt the emotions were just too uncaring. It lacked the essence that will make it a classic.

I wouldn't say ODD, I just wouldn't say appropriate. At the same time, it's not TOO bad, that's what singers do, they write about events from their lives, and this was a pretty big one. It's sort of like him doing a song about a one night stand, it's not ODD, people sing about stuff like that all the time, but it's not appropriate either.

Good on Justin Bieber for expressing something of his feelings about this in a song, and good on him for an excellent self-defence manoeuvre in turning an attack into further career progresssion.

For me, his lyrics in 'Maria' are too tolerant. Whatever motivated Mariah Yeater to level false allegations against a young man, she deserves criminal prosecution and consequences. If an investigation finds that intended financial extortion or fraud were significant factors, then a good prison sentence is called for. If mental disorder is found to be the main cause, then treatment in a forensic psychiatric facility should be ordered. Her false allegation amounted to serious violence both against Justin Beiber and her own daughter whose relationship with her real father she was clearly trying to deny.

Unfortunately, when it comes to females committing violence our feminist-besotted justice system generally finds whatever excuses it can to avoid holding them accountable. In our family courts and under sexist VAWA legislation, false allegations by women against men are encouraged and rewarded and it's extremely rare for any female to be charged with perjury even though lies, exaggerations and distortions are routine. False allegations of 'violence' (now defined so broadly as to encompass almost any expression of frustration by males) are frequently used to gain advantage in child custody cases, ensuring the husband mummy ditched can still be enslaved to pay for her lifestyle for many more years. False allegations are similarly used to have husband/partner thrown out of the couple's home without trial, to maintain possession of the ex-husband's house and as much as possible of his assets. False paternity claims are also common, in which women nominate the wealthiest credible option able to pay the most so-called 'child support'. Even when the paying man is the real father, much of so-called 'child support' is generally 'woman's lifestyle support'. It's simply incredible that western laws and jurisdictions promote this kind of dishonesty, theft and gender discrimination.

Good on you Justin Bieber! You, like more and more men young and old, are starting to wake up to the reality of how men are abused and exploited in Western societies. Your song is one of a growing body of art exposing the lies of feminism. We in the men's movement look forward to joining arms with you against this travesty.
