"The Dark Knight Rises," "The Amazing Spider-Man," "Total Recall" ... most of this summer's movies were kind of familiar, weren't they? That's because less than half of the flicks released this summer have been original story ideas, according to RottenTomatoes.com, Yahoo's The Daily Ticker reports.

"It's the studios' best interest to use an idea that people already are familiar with," RottenTomatoes.com's Matt Atchity says, according to Yahoo! "And if you go with something that is a remake or reboot…or a sequel to something that people already like, that gets name recognition out there. And it's a big step on the way to marketing your movie correctly."
Depressing as it is to feel like you are seeing the same-old movies and franchises again and again, it's a formula that works. "The Dark Knight Rises" has grossed $547.3 million so far, and "The Amazing Spider-Man" has coughed up $655 million, Yahoo! reports.
Bringing a new idea to the pubic is an expensive (and potentially) disastrous experiment, but we'd like Hollywood to keep trying. Do you think the show biz world is getting lazy?

There are many good theater productions coming out though, maybe I'll start to going plays more and less to movies.
If there is any lack of good original movies, it is because of good old fashioned greed.
We want something original with a good plot, an interesting body of real acting and intriguing enough to hold our attention and curiosity without giving us hints of the ending at the beginning of the movies. Stop doing repeats and or remakes it's beginning to suk' really bad.
Sorry that vote was for yes not no"
How many times do I need to see Peter Parker get bit by a radioactive spider?
If you released all good movies {trust me they have plenty of scripts sitting in a script vault} then they really would run out of good movies, they have to make the bad with the good, have you ever had 5 movies come out at once? I can't afford that! I've missed many movies because there was more than one good movie out at the same time, not only that but studios move movies so that way they don't compete.
If DKR came out at the same time as Amazing spiderman and Avengers and other anticipated movies they wouldn't make nearly as much as they do.
If you walked by and saw DKR and Dora the explora the movie I think it would be a pretty easy choice.
is many times more beautiful, evocotive, and compelling then this
