Lena Dunham Is TIME’s 'Coolest Person of the Year': Do You Think She’s Cool?

As part of its end-of-year summary of the movers and shakers of 2012, TIME Magazine has named Lena Dunham -- the writer, director and star of HBO’s “Girls” -- as the Coolest Person of the Year.
Explaining its decision, TIME journalist Joel Stein described Dunham as “a woman who was unafraid to showcase her flaws,” and referred to the fact that on her own show she “wore less makeup on TV than in real life and purposely shot herself naked in more unflattering ways than a blackmailer would.”
He also pointed out the importance that she “might lack swagger and mystery” but she “ushers in a second-generation cool for the oversharing era.”
In response, Dunham apparently sent an email saying “Wow, that is—for lack of a better word—really cool. What an honor. Will I get in any Web trouble for being genuinely, unsnarkily excited to be the first woman to win Joel Stein’s Coolest Person of the Year?” Do you think that Lena Dunham is cool?
