We hear a lot about celebs getting DUIs and other dishonors -- but Tuesday on VH1, we'll see them being honored for doing something good. The annual Do Something Awards recognizes celebs (and "real" people) for their charitable and activist efforts, and this year's winners include Will.i.am and Lea Michele, Entertainment Weekly reports. See more sexy shots of Lea Michele, Kristen Bell, Nikki Reed and Ashley Greene in the video below!

Lea Michele, who won in the TV Star category, was honored for her efforts to discourage people from riding horse-drawn carriages in New York, EW reports. Will.i.am, who won the Music Artist award, was honored for his efforts to transform Boyle Heights in East Los Angeles, where he was raised in the housing projects. "We have to care about our own communities a little bit more," he said, according to EW. "America has to wake up." What about you? Are you involved in any worthwhile causes?

The most I've ever done was volunteer at a soup kitchen making Thanksgiving meals, but that was two or three years ago.

I participate in advocating/sharing/distributing information about pets who need foster/adoptive homes throughout the nation. Acting as a social media marketer whose goal is to get the pet's face in front of as many people as possible takes alot of time-but, it's time well spent in my mind. I hope you too, will look at your next pet differently-adopt, rescue-check out your local shelters, or even pet pardons as a source to find your next family fur kin. Thanks.

Award shows like that get the message out that people need to get out there and do something. That is how I see it, anyway.

I guess I can go out my front door, or look around when I am out, and see things that need to be done. I can watch the news, read the paper, go on line etc., to see what is happening in the world. How much money went into that show? How could that money have been better spent? What if everybody involved on that show put the hours that it took (from concept, to finished product, advertising, etc) into volunteering to a cause that helped those less fortunate, or whatever "needs to be done?"

Yes, you could say that it provided jobs, and I'll give you that, but in the long run I just think it's a waste of resources just "pat themselves on the back" I think it's more about that than getting the word out.

Sean Penn, while I don't really care for the guy, really has heart for helping Haiti, and is there frequently trying to help. Yes, he has tried to bring about public awareness, but last I checked, he wasn't doing it through some award show.

As an aside, I wonder if any of these celebs were applauded for being involved in non-Leftist causes. I doubt it.

You just had to get in your little dig! NO CLASS!!! Many are involved in food and medicine for the under privligded, is that too "leftist" for you? Is your election integrity group just "rightist" anti-Mexican or anti-African American? BIG IDEA OR JUST BIG MOUTH?
  • thefatguy El Prez 2012/08/21 20:34:41

It's coming as a shock to you that Hollywood is rampantly left wing and overtly hostile to anything having to do with conservatism? Wow! What's it like to live in a cave? And, it's not a dig. It's a fact. I have no problem with privately-funded charities providing food or medicine to whomever. The Election Integrity Project is non-partisan. We are anti-fraud, that's all. And, yes, election integrity is a BIG IDEA.

You are overtly hostile to a whole group of people you do not know. Is that conservatism or just plain ignorance? Your insertion of an obvious political idea or motive into a question that is about charity is a clear sign of your intent. Not everything is political and not everyone who disagrees with your ideas is bad. Moving your mouth when you really have nothing constructive to add is a waste of your energy and everyone elses time. Conservatism is just an idea or a series of ideas, not the same series to each believer, so is liberalism. Hate and division is not a solution to a separation of ideas, it is a deterant to solutions. I reject your dismissive and inaccurate view.

Social activism IS political, thus, my response was political. Reject whatever you want. I don't care. Nice straw man argument, btw.

Half of Americans don't do 'what they should be doing'.

Most of these are Obama voters and he is creating more and more of them.

    You pay federal taxes, yes?

    **UPDATE SINCE YOU BLOCKED ME***

Yes I guess you don't pay taxes. This is why you support Obama. You want to sit on your fat ass collecting welfare that others have to earn.

Get off your fat, sloppy ass and earn a living, scum bag.
