Lauryn Hill Pleads Guilty to Tax Evasion: Does She Deserve Jail Time?

Singer Lauryn Hill pleaded guilty Friday morning to tax evasion. She could face up to three years in jail if she's not able to pay back what she owes before her November sentencing. Hill's attorney claims that she is being targeted by the federal government because of her celebrity status.

Hill gave her side of the story in a lengthy blog post a couple weeks ago, stating she had to go underground in order to protect her family from being "manipulated and controlled by a media protected military industrial complex”. While "underground" she claims to have used all of her resources to protect her family instead of paying her taxes. What do you think? Is Hill being unjustly targeted by the government or does she deserve jail time?

If she broke the law and the judge sees imprisonment fitting then he should enforce it whether or not shes a star. they should take precautions though.

Income tax should not even exist. It punishes productivity and it violates your life and liberty. The government basically claims ownership of a certain part of your life. They also try to make it constitutional by claiming that it is voluntary then turn around and threaten you with fines or jail time if you don't comply. In case you didn't know, there was no income tax until 1913 and the country did pretty well up until that point without it. Basically the income tax coupled with the Federal Reserve has been the greatest fraud perpetrated upon the USA.

I support everyone who keeps their money away from a pack of thieves. This gargantuan ponzi scheme is a total fraud. Best of all it`s legal. Of course if you can write your own laws,own the banks, why not steal from the people who trust you ? Why did she plead guilty? It`s her money.The key to this story is not that she avoided taxes, she went underground and got caught.

Nope. I support the total abolishment of the Federal Reserve and it`s enforcement arm, the irs. An intersting thing is that volunteer donations always outwiegh the mandatory. But this isn`t really about the money, it`s about power and control.

Hi there ! Your friendly neighborhood terrorist is awake. I think. On another post the one I was conversing with told me I could chose my own reality. So, In the matter of the tax case. Ever wonder who release`s these high profile case`s to the media ? Sort of gives people a wake up call when it happens. Nobody wants an audit by the IRS. So, FEAR and don`t cheat on your taxes. I refer to my earlier comment. It`s about power and control. The Fed owns the printing press. If they need money, they can just print it.And they do. So, if you or I incur a debt,do we demand our neighbor pay it?The Fed does. It`s a rotten crooked and immoral scheme. Me a terrorist? By their standards, Most people are.

If ANYBODY skipped paying taxes for three years, other then an Obama cabinet member, they would be tossed in jail ! Mitt Romney is guilty of tax evasion. He never went to jail because Romney used a loophole for wealthy to get out of paying U.S. taxes.
