Lance Armstrong Stripped of Titles: Will His Foundation Survive?

Cycling legend Lance Armstrong made a heartbreaking decision this past week. It's one that will be highly-debated and leave a mark on his career forever. Armstrong decided he would no longer fight the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency's allegations against him, despite passing every drug test over the years. The price Armstrong pays for that decision is being stripped of his record seven Tour de France titles.

Armstrong has also been banned for life from participating in sports and events sanctioned by the World Anti-Doping Agency. All the work Armstrong put in, especially with his inspirational story as a cancer survivor, is all gone . . . Or is it? Despite these devastating allegations and penalties, Armstrong has raised millions of dollars for cancer research over the years with his "Livestrong" campaign.

The Lance Armstrong Foundation has sold nearly 80 million "Livestrong" bracelets for its cause, since 2005. The charity organization has vowed to support its leader and continue its goal of helping find a cure for cancer. However, it may not be the organization's choice, but the public's--and specifically those who are willing to donate money--as to whether it survives in the aftermath of Armstrong's punishment.

It comes down to whether donors believe Armstrong is innocent or guilty, and whether or not they believe the cyclist's ability to raise awareness for a great cause is worth more than whatever negative stigma is attached to his name.

I will not buy any products that drop support for Lance, he has done so much good for cancer research and these Company's who supported him and now are dropping him from support are hypocrites, so long Nike I will be working to convince people to buy others products as long as they support none liberal views. Lance should not forfeit his pay as he did the work and support to raise money and these company's made money from Lance's support of their products.

Look at New Balance. They are the sports shoe made in America. Nike shoes are made for about $10 and sold for $250 to over $300 dollars.

Lance Armstrong is synonymous with cycling... no recent decision will strip him of what he has Actually accomplished. I can only imagine he was exhausted with the never ending questions :C I do hope his Foundation redoubles their profits in the years to come, as a statement of how people stand behind him and his cause.

Everyone knows Lance won those titles. This has been nothing more than a witch hunt from the begining and Lance's fans will still be his fans when all is said and done.

Right on, some jealous people who hate anyone that's does good. If Lance is unworthy than Obama should quit his pursuing a second term and pay back all the money's the tax payers paid for vacations, hollywood trips and parties, shopping using 2 jets as Michelle and mostly black friends get a tax payer dollars for the cost and expensive. This is real corruption not that allegations against Lance. Obama is the Hoaxster as Clint stated.

Once a cheat, always a cheat. I'm glad the anti-doping agency finally stripped his titles. He's an arrogant cheating prick, and I hope at some point in his life he comes clean to all the people that held him in high esteem and apologizes to them. As for his foundation, I hope it survives through this - Nike seems to think he's still a good brand to invest in - but I don't see it prospering as much going forward given what's happened.

the problem is he has never been caught cheating. Over 500 drug tests and not one positive.

If you have passed every test they threw at him, he is not guilty. Isn't this a great world we live in when you don't like someone you can harrass them until they say Uncle to win.

Still doesn't matter, he still passed the tests. If you can't prove it, it didn't happen. You have to be able to "prove" someone is guilty.

At least I hope not. He's an ass who left his wife after she supported him through his battle with cancer.

    His bands should say this:

They have never proved Lance was doping and he passed all the test and never not once tested positive for doping. He has done a lot of good for his Chraities and he speaks well of himself and everything that has happened. HOW CAN YOU SAY HE IS GUILTY OF DOPING WHEN YOU HAVE NO PROOF? They can't beat him so therefore he is guilty of doping. I think this stinks to high heaven and they are the ones that should be stripped of their titles and be made to pay for all the harm they have done to this great man Lance Armstrong

Yes-maybe...It is unfortunate Armstrong caved, if, as he says, he is innocent. Whether or not the foundation survives depends on how people feel about what Armstrong finally did about his situation. Most people do not like a quitter, regardless. Only time will tell.

The media has played all of us for fools. Lance Armstrong has not been stripped of anything. Think about it. How could a bunch of nothings who call themselves "The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency" have the authority to do anything with regard to a race that occurred in France?!! The officials of Tour de France do not recognize the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency. Lance Armstrong is suing the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, and he should sue any media outlet that claims he has been stripped of his Tour De France titles. Armstrong will prevail.

He's never failed a test and they've stripped him of his titles because he got tired of constantly defending himself against baseless charges. The World Anti-Doping Agency is now officially a joke.

You can take away 7 titles. You can't take away $250 million in cancer research donations. You can't take away the countless lives altered for the better as a result of the Livestrong charity.

USADA: McCarthyism for the 21st Century.

So far as I'm concerned, the only negative stigma to be attached as a result of this latest witch-hunt by the USADA is the one attached to USADA.
