You!

Lance Armstrong has decided not to fight the doping allegations any more. Is this paramount to an admission of guilt... or is Lance just tired of fighting it? You would think that he might want to fight to keep those seven Tour de France titles... right?

USATODAY.COM reports:
USADA accused Armstrong of using EPO, blood transfusions, testosterone, cortisone and HGH during his career.

He has passed over 100 drug screens and cleared of criminal charges - this is all based on one biker who was caught doping and said Armstrong did it too. He is still allowed to compete because of his allegations. This is horse manure and a vendetta based on no evidence.

They don't have any proof to charge him... & he did prove himself. He took every test they told him to take. How much more does he have to prove???

I wish there had been a "we'll never know for sure" alternative for an answer..but after 500 drug tests..they still can't prove he was "doping" for sure..so he should be innocent until proven guilty. I can't say that I blame him for quitting the fight..they have been after him for a long time and it must have already cost him a lot of money and time..

Ok let's look at this both ways the guy had testicular cancer n lost his boys. Some of these allegations and "drugs he took" if he did were prolly to help him feel normal. MLB allowed a player to use steriods cuz he was fighting cancer. Look at this logically people its expensive n he lost his manhood n did more then us

im not making judgement on him--- and I'm not saying he is guilty--- there was no 3rd option..... if this was "criminal" it would be a situation where he is innocent until proven/found guilty by a jury of peers or a judge...-but being non-criminal and sports involved--if you are innocent of accusations made against you ---you have to fight until you prove you are innocent.

My only question is why GIVE UP??? in reality its likely a total fabricated witch-hunt but I cannot understand why Lance Armstrong of all people would give up when he has never given up on anything before!

500 doping tests, years and years and years of false allegations... he is older now, and tired of fighting knowing they will just ignore his proof of innocense and come at him from some other angle.

I'm not saying what they have put him through isn't insane.... but why, after a lifetime of having a "never quit" attitude--- winning so many races, surviving his cancer etc. would he decide to give up on this one...

I'm not saying he is guilty of anything (hence why I wished there was a 3rd answer), I'm just saying that it sends the wrong message when so many people look at him as the ultimate "never give up" guy...

he shouldnt have given up until his name was cleared... im glad his foundation is still going strong but by "giving up" on clearing his name the history books will now forget him instead of remembering him forever imo..

He did prove himself. He took every test they told him to take. How much more does he have to prove??? They have been after him for over 10 years & still found no proof. Which means they will always keep going after him and they will still have nothing. He has a family and a charity, things much more important that this...

I understand innocent until proven guilty there smart guy-I took several law classes in college.... and honestly I take offense to you calling me a commie--you are barking up the wrong tree here.... Start by calling our POS POTUS one... Personally, I think Sen. McCarthy was right--and the NEA (and therefore all teachers, since its required to be a member now) have been under communist rule/doctrine/brainwashing since the 60's--and the minds of the youth make tomorrows leaders... go figure. Get real verbal about those things at and then get back to me.

ANYWAY-----The point you are missing is that Its a sporting organization not a criminal court...you ARE NOT innocent until proven guilty in their eyes.

Ok, the Organization is Communist... Therefore for someone to bend to their thinking must also have communist beliefs. They have proven Sen. McCarthy's innocence & they still will not pardon him. Now that is a fine example of communism within the US Government leaders... And something we both may agree on.

According to competing cyclists, team doctors provide difficult to detect drugs to a few of their best riders. It is done by many teams. Otherwise, you can't compete and win.

And didn't those riders also get to keep on cycling (which is their life) after admitting that??? Now why would anyone believe that is beyond me.

fighting these people gets very expensive. to keep up a witch hunt like this long after someone is out of the sport tells me that the usada needs some new personel. far as im concerned they simply cant admit that they are wrong and he really was the best there was for 7 years in a row. why isnt anyone chasing the female chinese swimmer that posted a time faster than the men in the olympics? if that isnt blatant doping i dont what is.

He took the high road... he bailed because he is innocent. There is a time to fight and a time to focus on your life. His life isn't cycling anymore, it is more than that, the USADA has someone with a bone they're gnawing. I know what that is like. I had a man who tried everything he could to nail me on some trumped up charges for 6 years. It only stopped because I retired. Otherwise he would have kept after me. His name was Mentzel.

So ten years of fighting isn't enough? the 10 years he was battling this & it was taking much need family time away from him isn't enough? When will it ever be enough. When you have gone through a 10 year battle like this come back & say that again & maybe then I'd believe you.
in case you did not know - Testosterone, EPO, & HGH can be test for... Even a blood transfusion can be test for. So even though he submitted to 500 different test over 10 years you still thinks it's an admission of guilt??? He would never be free of false allegations. This proves they will always keep come after him even after he is in the ground.

    There has been no trial

He does not have the $500,000 to continue the fight. He had had enough of the witch hunt that has been going on for over 17 years as well.

The USADA also does NOT have the authority to take the medals away form him as they did not award them to him in the first place.

They have also refused to give his lawyer any information regarding the case prior to the hearing as well. He would also not be able to chose his own representative at the hearing either. One would be appointed for him.

That is a Kangaroo Court at best to not even give a person any ability to try and defend themself prior to the hearing.

No, it's a lower estimate of his wealth that is freely available information for anybody. It's from far more reliable sources than wherever you got the idea that he can't afford 1/2million to defend his lifes work.

Why do you think he would be poor? He is one of the most famous athletes in the World, he has had many multi million dollar endorsement deals. Even if he squandered it all away he still has a huge number of very rich friends that I am sure would be willing to pay his legal fees for him.
This is where he lives btw, not the home of someone who is down to their last half million.

The fact is by not contesting the charges he stands to lose alot more money than he would do by fighting them. The prize money that he won throughout his career may now be stripped from him along with his titles.

Realize that it may not be the money; the extreme stress of dealing with these witch hunters out to nail him regardless of the facts could be taking a huge toll on his health physically and emotionally. I think he just got tired and said, "Aw, **** it."

The thing with the witch hunt theory is people seem to assume that this is only aimed at him but it's not. So many other top cyclists and tour winners have also been banned. It is reported that one of his tour titles will have to be given to the 5th place rider as the next 3 after him in the race have already been banned for doping.
