Lady Gaga to Play Lady Chameleon in 'Machete Kills': Will She Be a Good Actress?

According to critically-acclaimed director Robert Rodriguez's verified Twitter account, best-selling recording artist Lady Gaga (real name Stefani Germanotta) will star in "Machete Kills." Gaga will play the role of Lady Chameleon in the highly-anticipated sequel to "Machete," which will also be directed by Rodriguez. It is Gaga's first major acting gig.

Gaga known for her eccentric style and out-there personality, has recently made headlines for dissing "Call Me Maybe" singer Carly Rae Jepsen for overtaking her hit single "Born This Way" in the music chart rankings. Gaga also met resistance in Indonesia, when attempting to hold a concert there and was eventually denied entry.

The good news for Gaga is that her casting in Rodriguez's latest film is one that makes any beefs or setbacks pale in comparison. "Machete Kills" may be Gaga's first major role, but she was actually rumored to be cast as Amy Winehouse in a biopic, following Winehouse's untimely death last year. Gaga has already proven to be one of the best music has to offer and at this point, makes it look easy. We'll see if she does the same when transitioning to the silver screen.

My friend who's a director, didn't really care much for Lady Gaga and dislikes the music, but after watching her videos she suddenly gained a new respect for her, saying that she's has a natural talent at acting and should start focusing on acting instead. She's also very harsh when it comes to actors and very critical of everything, so I wasn't exactly expecting her to give such a compliment to Gaga.

I'm personally interested to see if she could pull it off and if my friend had the right idea.

The first movie was unbelievable drivel, so she may fit right in. I'm surprised the first acting role she took was in a sequel to such a cruddy movie. What idiot called it "highly-anticipated sequel". God, this is on the same level as naming "Fifty Shades of Grey" a bestseller - can anyone say oxymoron?

Well, I donno, but it sounds like a good role for her to prove herself. If there's one word I wouldn't use to describe either Gaga or Robert Rodriguez movies, its, "Understated". If she can make it as an actress, then this movie is probably the best role she can hope for.

I expect she will be. She's a very talented girl and the camera seems to like her. Call Me Crazy, but under all the nonsense and glam, I'm guessing she's a pretty normal chick and a damn fine business woman. Besides, "Machete" was pure camp, so it'll perfect for her.

Where's the "undecided" option for this question. I'm betting that she's gotta do as well as Madonna did in her performance in "Dick Tracy". Which happened to be the high point of Madonna's career as an actress.
