Lady Gaga to Play Lady Chameleon in 'Machete Kills': Will She Be a Good Actress?

According to critically-acclaimed director Robert Rodriguez's verified Twitter account, best-selling recording artist Lady Gaga (real name Stefani Germanotta) will star in "Machete Kills." Gaga will play the role of Lady Chameleon in the highly-anticipated sequel to "Machete," which will also be directed by Rodriguez. It is Gaga's first major acting gig.

Gaga known for her eccentric style and out-there personality, has recently made headlines for dissing "Call Me Maybe" singer Carly Rae Jepsen for overtaking her hit single "Born This Way" in the music chart rankings. Gaga also met resistance in Indonesia, when attempting to hold a concert there and was eventually denied entry.

The good news for Gaga is that her casting in Rodriguez's latest film is one that makes any beefs or setbacks pale in comparison. "Machete Kills" may be Gaga's first major role, but she was actually rumored to be cast as Amy Winehouse in a biopic, following Winehouse's untimely death last year. Gaga has already proven to be one of the best music has to offer and at this point, makes it look easy. We'll see if she does the same when transitioning to the silver screen.

Madonna was never one. These rock stars have to realize that in order to be good, you must study drama. Barbra Streisand always considered herself as an actress who could sing. Frank Sinatra studied drama after his vocal cords hemorrhaged, and it led to an Oscar role in "From Here To Eternity." Study drama Gaga.

Her whole showbiz career is about acting. So she's had plenty of practice already.

Case in point: How many even know her real name? Lady Gaga is a character she plays, and with all respect because I do respect what she is all about but that character name won't win awards for originality anytime soon.

As someone else mentioned, she's already proven her acting abilities with her Lady Gaga character, so an over-the-top movie like Machete Kills would be a great opportunity for her to bring her talent into film.

Besides, she's already been in a movie: She's the helicopter pilot from the beginning of Aliens. (Please someone say you know what I'm talking about. ;))
