Lady Gaga is unbelievably rich and arguably the biggest pop star of her generation. But believe it or not, the 26-year-old is still quite sad. On Lifetime's "The Conversation With Amanda de Cadenet" on Thursday, the singer admitted that she has "begun to cherish my loneliness. I have, sort of, since I was around 20 years old."

In the interview, Gaga reveals that she was very depressed when she was 19. "I would go back to my apartment every day and I would just sit there. It was quiet and it was lonely. It was still. It was just my piano and myself. I had at television and I would leave it on all the time just to feel like somebody was hanging out with me."

She also confesses that she used cocaine to "fill that void," like "the drug was my friend." While she's now drug-free, Gaga is reportedly taking a "break" from her hunky "Vampire Diaries" boyfriend Taylor Kinney, leading us to wonder if she's lonely all over again. It's a toss up between Jim and Robin Williams. It seems the sadder the man, the more he makes you laugh.

I have bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder. I can't take antidepressants, because they'll send me into mania. I'm pretty difficult to medicate. Medications aren't one size fits all, and even some doctors don't understand that. Good luck to you.

I'd have to go with Lady Gaga because her choroegrapher gave up on her because her newest music and from the form of bullying really got to her. Even as celebrities they still get bullied on because they find recent gossip sites on what's being said about them. Lady Gaga and her favorite band Queen could've put a toll on her as well because she dresses weird. Demi Lovato on the other hand is still continually growing strong because of her past, but I don't see that stopping her and making her sad she is just showing others as well we can put a stop to bullying, but I doubt she would be sad but using her past experinces into more of a positive light, making her shine and smile bright!

This woman has fought severe mental problems for many many years. But I also must say I think Aaron Lewis the vocalist for Staind sounds pretty miserable. Considering just about every one of their songs is about anger and sadness.

i don't know any of these people. i'd have to say justin beiber, cuz well in five years, people won't know his name anymore. he's not going to last 20 years like green day, for instance, or 50 like the beatles in loving beatle memories.

Why in the hell is she on this list? I didn't see a link to explain how this list was generated, so I must be out of some loop in the popular culture database that determined that these are the saddest celebrities. I would think that Tiger Woods should be on this list after throwing away almost a billion dollars through his divorce!

She's on the list because she had spoken about the depressive side of bipolar disorder, which is a very difficult disease to live with. A person can be sad even when they seem to have everything in the world, like Catherine. At least that's why I think they chose her.
Tiger Woods is too damn arrogant to think about anyone but himself. He wouldn't even go see his brother, who was in the end stages of M.S. The more I hear about that jerk the less I like him.

Thanks for the clarification--so this is a list of folks with bipolar disorder I take it. I didn't see the connection in the poll presentation. I have known several people with bipolar but they were fortunate enough to get counseling to deal with it. I myself have been diagnosed with clinical depression (about ten years ago), but have been on anti-depressant medication since the diagnosis and I am doing well now.

Interesting to see Jim Carrey on the list. I don't know anything about his personal life, but I say him play Andy Kaufman in a biopic and Kaufman sure seemed like a bipolar type while he was alive.

You may be right, but some people have too much material goods and so they locked out the true people from their lives. And doing this create a whole lonely world for them.

This is not surprising to me! Most people think that money will make them happy but what they fail to realize is happiness is within you! If you are not happy with self there is no money in the world that will make you happy! More money,More problems!!

Those being listed just because of the fact that they're bipolar is kind of ridiculous. There are many, many people with the bipolar disorder who have it mostly under control and are living normal lives.

True, people can learn to live with it. But it's a sneaky bastard of a disease. You can think you've got everything under control and it can really throw a curveball. I don't trust the bastard for a second, even when I think I have it contained. I will never be able to completely tame it.

I know everything about what it is like just as much as you do. I have it. It is still quite insulting and a little uneducated for someone to just be listed here because of the sole fact that they are bipolar. It didn't even describe anything else BUT that.

"Zeta-Jones shocked the world last year when she admitted that she has bipolar II disorder. Zeta-Jones' statement read: "This is a disorder that affects millions of people and I am one of them." "

^ And that was it. Nothing about something that had happened, etc.

Sure, it is sometimes tough to struggle with it and it has its moments... but to be listed as one of the saddest celebrities/people? Really?
  • Deb RoseyRhod 2012/05/06 14:51:21

I grew up with a Mom that was Bi-Polar with a couple of other things as well (although they didn't appear that often until her stroke ie: hearing voices, seeing things, etc) I get panic attacks, and am getting treatment for Clinical Depression right now...JUST mho, but the depression is, in my case so much worse. However, feeling that it is lifting a bit. THANK GOD. Also, when people say "money cannot buy happiness" that is also on the edge of the sword as well. IF I have extra money which hasn't been lately....heck for awhile..but when I did...I bought for others. THAT made me happy, buying something for a family member or close friend that you knew they really needed, or just wanted. Wishing the best for you as well. Chemical imbalances really are VERY HARD to deal with...and so true, meds have to be "dabbled" with to get the right balance to "help" in the cases where they actually DO help a bit.
