Lady Gaga is unbelievably rich and arguably the biggest pop star of her generation. But believe it or not, the 26-year-old is still quite sad. On Lifetime's "The Conversation With Amanda de Cadenet" on Thursday, the singer admitted that she has "begun to cherish my loneliness. I have, sort of, since I was around 20 years old."

In the interview, Gaga reveals that she was very depressed when she was 19. "I would go back to my apartment every day and I would just sit there. It was quiet and it was lonely. It was still. It was just my piano and myself. I had at television and I would leave it on all the time just to feel like somebody was hanging out with me."

She also confesses that she used cocaine to "fill that void," like "the drug was my friend." While she's now drug-free, Gaga is reportedly taking a "break" from her hunky "Vampire Diaries" boyfriend Taylor Kinney, leading us to wonder if she's lonely all over again. It's a toss up between Jim and Robin Williams. It seems the sadder the man, the more he makes you laugh.

Seems to be that truly the "saddest" person is someone who is in denial that there is a void that needs to be filled. Lady Gaga is, quite frankly, quite honest and in--relatively--quite a good place: she admits that there is a void that needs filling. She also admits, by inference, that drugs, sex and rock and roll do not fill the void.

Not holding my breath that she will find God and the salvation that she is yearning through Jesus Christ and the UNCONDITIONAL LOVE that God has for her--but one can hope and pray. :)

I think that maybe he's caught up in the moment where he thinks that no one understands him. That's a scary place.

Demi isn't whining about fame. She was being bullied by thousands.

And again, WHY IS THERE NO "none of the above" OPTION? I'M SERIOUSLY F*CKING TIRED OF SH!T LIKE THIS NOT OFFERING SUCH A VITAL OPTION. JUST BECAUSE YOU GIVE US A SLIDE-SHOW WITH INFORMATION ON EACH CHOICE DOESN'T MEAN YOU DON'T NEED TO CATER TO THOSE WHO WON'T GIVE A F*CK ABOUT ANY OF THE CHOICES! DO YOU HEAR ME SODAHEAD? TWATS.

SH members sometimes do not think that is necessary to have choices............it sounds familiar doesn't it?
Yes, many times the questions need a more open choice of answers, in this case at hand, absolutely.

Yet, definitely the saddest in her constant need for attention. The "cherished loneliness" sounds like exactly the opposite of what she craves.

This woman is rich, if she is depressed she should get help from a psychatrist or therapist. She has the option that millions of truly depressed People around the World do not have ~ a means to get treatment. Instead she seeks the Media to air her "troubled life"

Billions of People around this Planet wish they had these "troubles" as opposed to being caught in a hot war, religious genocide, slavery, plague, or starvation.

In fact all of these asses need to get a damn clue.

Both emotionally and just plain socially - Lady GaGa is the saddest celeb. It proves that happiness doesn't come from popularity, wealth, success or any other external source. Happiness is an internal phenomenon that comes from conviction, belief, self-esteem and core values! Maybe GaGa should try and develop some good old fashioned core values :-)

She's seemingly so out there unique in her weirdness in thought, word and deed she separates herself from life's normality. I also think the manic, comic wit of Jim Carey has a desperation quality that may someday - like many famous comics before him who fear the loss of their talent and popularity are taken to a destructive and dark place.

I guess of all the listed people I would pick Jim Carrey. Hard to say though because with celebrities all we know is what they care to show us enough that we can "figure" out. I think there are far more obvious people who suffer from depression though.... the creative world is full of them. For a "star" to have such false or temporary adulation heaped on them... would only amplify the actual emptiness inside. *shrug* That said, there are plenty of poor not-famous people who suffer from depression also. Maybe if they shared the wealth everyone would feel better =D

Lady Gaga isn't sad. Quite frankly, I think that anything negative we see in the media about her is just posturing for attention. Yes, she has had a tendency to be a loner, especially before her fame, but at this point there's no excuse for her to be lonely. Sure, you can't meet anybody in the general public anymore, because you can't perceive the real agenda (liking you for you, your media personality, your wealth, or your fame). So, you've got no choice but to date celebrities. There's still a huge choice out there, much better than if you were a nobody.

Sinead O'Connor is the real sad one. She was such a beautiful young lady back in the 1980's. But she couldn't get out of her F'ed up head, sexual identity not withstanding. Look at her now. She's a miserable bull dyke. It's so sad...

I wanted to vote none of the above but I voted for Morrissey because I find him to be totally annoying. The only thing I can say is that being a celebrity means that you can afford a shrink and your medication. What about the rest of us... the depressed, down and out, lonely and broke. That's really a bitch.

Comedians are notoriously disturbed, manic-depressive, warped, loaded with emotional problems, angst, depression. That is something of a 'given' in my mind.
I could accept that most artistic people are generally prone to sadness, depression, dark moods, and this is often what fuels them,
    however,
I'm well tired of the Lady Gagas of the world contriving fake relationships with their fanbase and somehow always battling eating disorders or knowing what it's like to be bullied.
To be clear: She is from a good family (relatively speaking as good as it gets) and had a highly privileged run from teenager to one of New Yorks hottest stars to massive wealth and praise, running coke-fueled party nights with all the rich and famous. She has ZERO RELATIONS with angsty 'little monster' teen girls. ZERO. She is the very antithesis. She is not 'like you' AT ALL.

*I started laughing thinking of an old Larry Sander premise (which was so much like our real life writers room) where their star comedy writer was ONLY effective if his girlfriend broke up with him. So of course they deliberately manipulated him getting dumped lol

That's the trouble with the social landscape these days. The youth is so friggin' brainwashed. They believe anything that they want to believe. Lady Gaga is a contrived illusion. She has a nice voice, but not the best. She's a concocted "diva". She didn't earn her wings like Aretha Franklin or Madonna. She swoons the teens with her outlandish fashion jaunts, doing what they all wish they could do and get away with it. She seduces them with with all kinds of pop mantras to "be anything you like" and that you can "do anything you want". The fact is that you have to WORK towards becoming what you want to be and EARN the ability to do what you want. No... people would rather dump their hard earned money into lotteries that have less chance of winning than being hit by a bus in Manhattan, because they believe the illusion. That they are special and that they'll be the one picked. Lady Gaga is leveraging an illusion to make millions. She's a manipulator and all of these kids are just playing right into it.

    Well said!

Something bothers me about a rather beautiful young woman with a physically fit curvy body (Lady Gaga) who then puts on an ugly costume (some scary make-up, $1000 designer 'messy' hairstyles) then goes on stage and tells awkward children "heyy.. I'm ugly/fat/unpopular JUST LIKE YOU!".
Kids dump $150 dollars a piece on concert tickets. Ugh.
