Lady Gaga is unbelievably rich and arguably the biggest pop star of her generation. But believe it or not, the 26-year-old is still quite sad. On Lifetime's "The Conversation With Amanda de Cadenet" on Thursday, the singer admitted that she has "begun to cherish my loneliness. I have, sort of, since I was around 20 years old."

In the interview, Gaga reveals that she was very depressed when she was 19. "I would go back to my apartment every day and I would just sit there. It was quiet and it was lonely. It was still. It was just my piano and myself. I had at television and I would leave it on all the time just to feel like somebody was hanging out with me."

She also confesses that she used cocaine to "fill that void," like "the drug was my friend." While she's now drug-free, Gaga is reportedly taking a "break" from her hunky "Vampire Diaries" boyfriend Taylor Kinney, leading us to wonder if she's lonely all over again. It's a toss up between Jim and Robin Williams. It seems the sadder the man, the more he makes you laugh.

If I were as disgusting as "Lady Gaga," it would be a step forward to embrace loneliness. After all, who could love a pig like that?

That doesn't mean those people are REAL friends and significant others! It hurts when you're surrounded by fake people and it's got to be even worse when you are in the public eye!

I've heard Keanu Reeves has been known to spend large amounts of time on the set of films he is in, sitting alone and brooding. And in interviews his attempts to be humorous and lighthearted seem forced, like under it he is very unhappy.

She seems to have had a very troublesome life, emotionally... she's been through a LOT (perhaps she's just a little more open than some of the others).
I find it strange that Lady Gaga has the most votes, since she is the one who most seems to embrace and deal with her issues rather than let them trample her.

You can pretty muchy see the loneliness in her. People often act out in ways when they are lonely, especially in the public eye. Goes to show you that being rich and famous doesn't always buy happiness.

LG, cry me a river. Newly found uber rich woman of entertainment gets lonely. NEWS FLASH- It's called life. Lonliness is her choice ,and probably a choice of reclusiveness due to being surrounded by people most of the time with her profession.

Yep. That's pretty sad. Just because you're wealthy and famous doesn't mean you can't be lonely and depressed. None of that can ever really satisfy completely.

Yeah, but when you have all that money and all that power you worry if they only want to be around you because of your money and/or fame... they don't know if they're loved for who they truly are.

Don't misunderstand. Nothing mean to say. However, she has spent so much time trying to be someone else...she has never really worked on living as herself. She will never be happy until she does that. All she seems to be is Madonna, Part 2.

Oh give me a break lady gaga. I have been brutally bullied since I was 10, lonely ALL my life. mom died when I was 17 and brother is mentally disable. and im not doing drugs or drinking, im praying. now shes rich, famous, popular. She is STILL sad. I would LOVE to pay off my dads bills and have a nice boyfriend and have money to get my medicine AND buy food at the same time.

If anything, it's sad because she obviously doesn't have the coping skills you have... she is obviously not as strong as you are.
Some people do not believe in the power of prayer... should we judge them for that?

You're quite right... I'm not sure why I chose Sinead O'Connor over her (well, I guess maybe because Sinead keeps falling from the same problems over and over). It is really sad when people feed their depression rather than working to deal with it.

I listen to all forms of music, including some very idiculous forms e pessive rock like japanese go-metal. A good example of that is Naifu -Take the Wave. I however mostly listen to stuff like Kasabian-Clubfoot or Queens of the Stone Age- Little Sister. I like it loud and technique laden. It can't be too easy, or I get bored. What do you dig on?
