Lady Gaga Offers Free Counseling at Concerts: Should People Seek Therapy at a Show?

Lady Gaga has made no bones about the fact that she draws a unique crowd. She’s labeled her devotees her “little monsters” and has always reminded them that it’s okay for them to be a “freak” like her. So in a world where teen bullying and suicides run rampant, she’s offering a little extra support to her diehard fans. During the run of her Born This Way Ball tour, she’ll make free counseling available to those who wish to seek it.

It’s not surprising that the pop star would go to such lengths go give back to her loyal followers. After all, she can relate to what some of her young fans are going through. Born Stefani Germanotta, she’s admitted that she, too, never quite fit in when she was growing up. And last year she launched her Born This Way Foundation to empower youth.

Now comes the extra support at her performances. As she explained on Facebook, “At the BornBrave Bus you have access to professional private or group chats about mental health, depression, bullying, school & friends… BornBrave Bus Is a place where mental health + depression are taken seriously no judgment, FREE real help available to all." While it might be a great outlet for people who really need it, others might shy away from tackling their issues in such a lighthearted environment. What do you think: Should people seek therapy at a show?

If a person needs help, I say let them get it where they are. There should be a McTherapy in every town.

Clown's Head:: "Would you like Prozac with that?"

No, seriously. It's not the availability of fire arms that is killing our young nearly as much as the lack-luster attention we are giving mental health for the young.

When I was a child it was the prevailing medical belief that children were incapable of having headaches. The reasoning behind it was that headaches were caused by stress and that children were not able to experience stress.

We are more enlightened now about migraines and the fact that it afflicts the young as well as the old. But many still think that the young are not susceptible to stress.

I applaud what she is offering to her fans. Maybe SHE has prevented others from acts of violence against there institutions of learning.

We need to also make mental health a priority for the older ones as well.

Not during a show! You're there to have a good time, not think about your problems. Maybe the next day?

Those seeking counseling from an entertainer at all should already be wearing the "hug-yourself-jacket" in a rubber room somewhere. Especially if you want therapy from a girl, aside from her outlandish appearances, that is barely old enough to even begin to know what life is like, for that matter, what life is like without fame and money.

Maybe someone can find out what's wrong with the people that they would want to go to one of her shows in the first place.

I think it's a very nice gesture from Gaga, but that is not the right place for people to seek counselling. If that was me I would group by group take some girls or however needs the therapy and take them on a day out with me and then discuss their problems and try my best to help them. But I really do admire that Lady Gaga has thought of doing this for people.

If you want to do it that way, sure. It might be more comforting to be in a crowd of misfits for some folks.

It figures the top opinion would be what it is. We need some real thinkers on this site.

Any place a person seeks out help for mental health issues is a great sign of effort to get that help. I'm sure they are professionals and dont push any other agenda. So a young person going into a bus at a concert in such a "lighthearted" atmosphere to get counseling. That person is probably needing to take those first steps towards recovery.

It is less a matter of "where" they should go than that Lady Gaga is OFFERRING HELP. How many depressed people do you know who will leap at the opportunity to go to some head shrink's office at a hospital complex? Where as putting them at a concert where those suffering mental illness may already be at? is a way to help. How about we build people up instead of tearing them down.

    Honestly Lady Gaga's heart is in the right place, but not at a show. It should be up to the person or family member who would want to go on there own time to seek prof help. No offense but counseling at a show just takes the time away from a concert or a tv showing. It's great that she looks out for her die-hard fans, but its up to the person to seek it. For those who are badly depressed and are going through a rough time go seek it or call your crisis hotline. Either if it is from bullying, or suicide run rampants, I suggest that family members or who-ever it is that is really badly needing the help go and find when a person is on-call right away immedately because they do have a purpose to live. It's even open to adults as well, as just kids & teenagers. Plus all of us can just prevent suicide from happening as well;

It is not something that can be entered into at a show. BUT if you do feel the need then make an appointment for real theraphy while at the show.

A lot of people in her fan base deal with insecurities. Even if her message of "Born This Way" is making them stronger, they still need extra help. Since most people are too afraid or ashamed to go out and get extra help, it's a great idea to offer it for free where everyone can understand each other. As for the people saying "yes because Gaga needs help herself," can you stop judging for a second in your life? Lord.
