Lady Gaga Isn't Allowed to Perform in Indonesia: Fair or Foul?

Lady Gaga met some resistance in South Korea when religious groups protested her concert there, but Indonesia is taking it to a whole new level. According to the BBC, Indonesian police have denied Gaga a permit to perform in the country on June 3, but it's not exactly because they don't approve of her message. At least, not directly. They're doing it for her own good. The Islamic Defenders Front is threatening to intercept the diva when she gets there.

A spokesman for the Indonesian police told the BBC, "It is better that we don't give permission rather than that [the concert] ends up being stopped by the people. We have already received a letter requesting us to consider the people's plea [for cancellation]. And the Jakarta Police also refused to recommend a permit for the concert because we don't want people to clash." Did they make the right choice in denying Lady Gaga a permit to perform in Indonesia?

That is not up to us to decide. I believe in free travel and "open" borders. It's not happening.

You wouldn't want people trampling all over your property, would you? I guess some would...I personally wouldn't enjoy it.

Really? Does Shariah have anything to do with it?

Whether it is truly an Islamic-driven Shariah law type deal, or just another case of governments using religion to control people doesn't matter to me. Corrupt governments and religious extremists are always bad and should never be a proper representation of government or religion.

As an Atheistic Metalpunk with long hair and a leather jacket, I simply have no interest in getting arrested for the simple fact I am intelligent, free, and have a good taste in music.

What morals are those? Good fashion sense? I can understand not liking the way she dresses, but I will never understand how that makes her a bad person,.

She wears anything, she gets a group of people to decides what she wears. And YOU CAN really tell what kind of person they are if they are half naked and constantly trying to out do yourself.

    Integrity lol.
This is the same place where a man was arrested for being an Atheist, since it's "against the law to blaspheme"
This is the same place where police rounded up a bunch of punks, shaved their hair off, took their clothes, removed their piercings, and forced them into military "re-evaluation" camps so that they can learn true Islamic values.

I suppose this is how you envision the US, hey? Except, of course, under Christian law.

Another idiot talking out of his azz because his mouth knows better. How can we tell other countries how to run their governments, after we elected an idiot like Obama?
