Kristen Stewart Apologizes to Robert Pattinson: Could You Forgive Your S.O. for Cheating?

Not long after Us Weekly published a photo of Kristen Stewart canoodling with her married "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders, K-Stew issued a public statement admitting to a "momentary indiscretion" -- and offering a heartfelt apology to her "Twilight" co-star boyfriend, Robert Pattinson. "I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected," Stewart says in the statement. "This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry."

Sanders then followed up with a statement of his own. "I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family," he told People. "My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together."

The British director, 41, is married to actress/model Liberty Ross, 33, who played 22-year-old Stewart's mother in "Huntsman." Stewart, of course, has been dating Pattinson, 26, since the early days of "Twilight." Do you think R-Patz should forgive his young girlfriend? Or kick her to the curb? What would you do?

A relationship can't have much in terms of strength if it only takes one stupid mistake to end it forever. Obviously I wouldn't condone genuine affairs if I knew my partner had truly abandoned me.

I can forgive but not forget... then again we as the general public don't know the ins and outs of their relationship to know why she cheated in the first place. I'm pretty sure if it was the other way around and Rob was the wrong one ppl would be very forgiving. I'm not saying what she did was right... I'm just saying she can be forgiven. Whether they continue a relationship is up to them.

I'm going to say yes, but I'm not the jealous type. If it was just sex, and it was safe, I would probably be OK with it. Having a secret relationship on the side, though... would have to seriously reconsider our relationship.

Although it's hard to at times, everyone should be able to forgive someone if they actually were sorry. You will never be able to forget but if the apology is sincere then I see no problem with forgiving. However, that doesn't mean that things will always carry on like they used to either.

Forgiving doesn't mean that everything is okay so do it again, just that I have stopped letting the anger hurt me and I'm moving past it. Forgiveness benefits the person forgiving.

I've been there. It's extremely painful to be betrayed by someone you really care about and think you can trust, but if you really love them (as I did) then you can always find it in your hert to forgive them.

A good relationship is based upon trust....and leopards do not change their spots. If someone cheats on you now, it will very likely happen again no matter how they claim that it won't. Check the statistics.

I would never cheat on my spouse because our relationship would never be the same afterwards....I'd be gone.... and if she were to cheat on me, she'd be gone. We both agree on that.

But there is more. Everyone is tempted at some time; but if you both really care for each other, you would never want to hurt her and she would never want to hurt you.

If you really love someone, you have to recognize that they are also just humans. Humans make mistakes and once you exercise poor judgement, you can't take it back. So I believe that if you care about someone, you need to give them a second chance. (But not a third chance. If they screw up twice, KICK EM TO THE CURBBBB)
