Starz has canceled political drama “Boss” after just two seasons. The critically acclaimed show, which stars Kelsey Grammer as a hardball Chicago mayor battling an incurable degenerative disease, has been struggling in the ratings ever since its first season.

In a statement issued yesterday, Starz said: "After much deliberation, we have made the difficult decision to not proceed with [a third season of] Boss. We remain proud of this award-winning show, its exceptional cast and writers.”

The show earned a Golden Globe nomination for best drama, and a win for Grammer’s acting, but attracted just 317,000 viewers to the premiere of its second season — less than half the audience of the first season’s premiere.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Starz has been in talks to bring the series to a close with a two-hour movie that wraps up the plot's various loose ends.

Well, to me it seems like every good show gets cancelled to soon. Eli Stone, Kindred: The Embraced, V remake, Dead like me, Pushing Daisies, Invasion; The list just goes on and on. We just can't win, we get crappy shows with no story. Reality TV is crap. Fire Fly I think is still one of the biggest mistakes.

the slim shady show!! they cancled that WAY too early theres only 8 eppasodes!! if they had cept it on it might of gotten bigger than south park just because eminems voice was on it, but its a halarious show too they should of made at least 2 seasons.

Whenever I saw this question, I thought, "If Firefly isn't winning, the universe is broken." Not just because it is a great show that completely deserves to win, but because it is famous for being cancelled before its time and having a large, passionate fanbase.

With good reason, of course. In just 14 episodes, it set up an exciting, intelligent plot, intriguing setting, and a wonderful cast of characters who you can't help but fall in love with. From the quirky, adorable pilot Wash (who I am absolutely in love with), to the insane, butt-kicking genius River, to the tough, complex captain Mal.

10 years later, it remains my favorite television show of all time.

After Avengers...I wonder how Fox is feeling after cancelling so many of Whedon's shows before they really had a chance and used the BS excuse of ratings to push for it when THEY were responsible for putting the shows on at bad times.

Firefly because of it's great potential and the completely horrid way in which it was treated. The new remake of "V". It was lackluster for awhile but i kept watching it if they had made more episodes as good as the season 2 finale everyone would be watching that show.

I wish the SyFy channel would have picked up these fallen shows. Instead they make one lame B movie after another. One day they will put an actual science fiction fan in charge of a network.
