For celebrities, social media is a double-edged sword. They can connect with their fans at a moment's notice, but everything they say will be dissected by their entire fan base. Now, Kelly Clarkson is learning the lesson John Mayer learned a couple of years ago: What you say on Twitter will come back to bite you. The "American Idol" winner found herself in the middle of an all-out Twitter war when she tweeted about her favorite presidential candidate, Ron Paul.
The original tweet was harmless enough: "I love Ron Paul. I liked him a lot during the last republican nomination and no one gave him a chance. If he wins the nomination for the Republican party in 2012 he’s got my vote. Too bad he probably won’t." The tweet was followed by a slew of harsh responses suggesting Clarkson is "obviously living under a rock" and "thinks people should die in the ER." She tried explain her reasoning, but was met with more heat.
She pulled out of the debate by posting a message on her blog that read, "Man my eyes have been opened to so much hate tonight. If y'all ever disagree with something I say please don't feel the need to attack me ... If you don't agree with me simply unfollow me. It's really that easy ... If you're so blinded by hate you can't seek peace and progress then that is your unfortunate prerogative." Do you think celebs like Kelly Clarkson should be more careful with social media than the average person?

To think of all the countless hours we spend caring about rich and famous people... think what we could do if we put that energy elsewhere.
Of course there is no satisfying wackos who dislike true conservatives.
