Katy Perry has conquered the music biz, and now she wants to make it on the big screen. The pop superstar is in the running to play Freddie Mercury’s long-term girlfriend Mary Austin (alongside Sacha Baron Cohen as the flamboyant Queen frontman) in a new biopic, London's Mirror reports.
However, we're wondering if Katy should go for the role of Freddie himself. Katy dressed up as Freddie Mercury for her birthday party, and the result was pretty convincing (see photo below.) A friend of Katy Perry's told the Mirror: "Katy would love to be in the film as she is such a huge fan. She would want to play Mary Austin ideally. Katy has a similar look to Mary and would be a brilliant foil to Sacha."

The story itself is fascinating. Freddie met Mary Austin before he became famous, and dated her for six years. He later admitted to Mary that he was bisexual and went on to date men, but always remained close to his "common-law" wife. "All my lovers asked me why they couldn’t replace Mary, but it’s simply impossible," he once said. After he died of AIDS-related pneumonia in 1991 at the age of 45, he left Mary his home in London.

JohnT 2012/06/13 14:01:42No+7No but I am sure they will give her a few roles. Elvis could not act very well and he made a lot of movies, Madonna has made a few, It is called taking the latest ten minute sensation and milking money from the public for a worthless movie. Very few have became great actors

No, but thank you for trying.
