Katy Perry and Russell Brand Are Getting a Divorce: Did You Think They'd Last?

Pop singer Katy Perry and comedian Russell Brand -- as if they need an introduction -- have reportedly filed for divorce after 14 months of marriage. Brand issued a statement on Friday saying, "Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends."

This is strange news following strong statements from both partners earlier this winter. Perry was talking about having kids with Brand as recently as November, explaining she "would love to have children ... I think that's one of the reasons you get married, especially to the person that you marry." Similarly, Brand told Ellen DeGeneres earlier this month, "I'm really happily married. I’m married to Katy. Perpetually, until death do us part was the pledge. I’m still alive."

Unfortunately, that's how a lot of celebrity marriages have been turning out lately -- Sinead O'Connor, Kim Kardashian, Ashton Kutcher. But we had high hopes for Katy and Russell!
