I went to the Katie Melua show at Hotel Cafe on Sunday Night. She is a Georgian (former Soviet union) born singer raised in Britain. One of Europe's top selling female artists, who sells out large venues (O2 in London). The venue I saw her at holds about 150 people. I was sitting at a table right in front of the stage. The video is shaky for about 2 seconds, but the rest is pretty stable. I took lots of pics, added some here. I used a beer bottle for my tripod. Worked great.

A great songwriter. "Piece By Piece" is one of my favorite albums (oops, CD). "Call Off The Search" is excellent also. The new one ("Pictures") is good as well, but I don't think it's quite as good as the first two.... But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong... ;-)>> See Replies

Woah those are some good pictures...she's beautiful.
I'd love to see her like that...it's the only true way to see an artist like her.
Huge gigs are just no good...it needs to up close and intimate.
It's almost a shame when someone like this gets popular.
There are probably places like this near me...I just never bother to look.
I should get out more.
Thank you for sharing the video and the pictures! If you have more please share some!

Indeed it was my first time @ the Hotel Café did not now what to expect when we entered the alley to get to the back entrance, But my wife and I really didn't care where that alley would take us, since we where so hyped to see Katie. And it turned out to be a great place, a great show, a great crowd and a great experience (yes I did "over used" the word great in the last sentence).

I'll keep an eye @ the Hotel Café's website calendar for future venues and now your blog of course!
BTW next time instead of using a beer bottle you should get this: http://www.joby.com/products/...
they are compact, fairly cheap and very useful!
